Requests for real life 1st or 2nd hand experience with the Weiand P3690982 6bbl intake

Sounds kinda cool, I’d be really skeptical on its performance till I seen some actual track data. When I see it work in a 3800# b body that can go 10’s I’ll be a believer. Until then, not so much.

I am, AM going to put together this setup. I have no reason to doubt weedburner's report. Regardless, I had already "bought into" the ClutchTamer, then decided to go with a hydraulic clutch, then found out about the HitMaster (by the same company) so I had already decided to go this route.

The story is the HitMaster and the Ram dual disc clutch are working very well together to provide adjustable slip of the clutch at the launch. I would have to search for the post, but the story told of the harmony and synergy of the hydraulic clutch TO bearing, HitMaster launch control, and the dual disc clutch and pp are EXACTLY what I hoped they would be. No spin launches with major G forces and a clutch that doesn't complain about the job. No broken parts as the clutch is allowing for the required slippage-consistently, and that is adjustable.
I'm sold! I just need the money to line up the gear, and I may wait to upgrade to the triangulated rear suspension system because I am pretty sure my leaf springs are shot.

I found the ONLY copy of this specific part number catalog. Literally the only ONE.
It's used, but in good shape. Retail was $20 new and I paid $40 for it...
It has ALL of the old 6bbl and other intake mods, jetting etc recommendations for better performance from the Weiand and Edelbrock STR intakes etc.

Except that I like my a855 5 speed. Pistol Grip shifter...it's not all about being the fastest, but having fun doing it, and Iike rowing gears.

Oh yeah, I’ve been there and it was great on the street. I just got tired of fighting it on the strip and all the broken parts that went with it.

Regarding the Weiand P3690982 6bbl intake, I spoke with a couple of people who had one for sale. I came really close to buying one.
But...
The plans I have have mostly been to build a stroker motor, and that is still the most likely scenario. TrickFlow 240s vs 270s because although Max Wedge ports would get me a higher horsepower figure, everything else would have to be taken to the next level, and that makes breaking parts more likely, or certainly increases the cost of the build. That's because torque and horsepower numbers move up the RPM range. I have seen results of Edelbrock/Chrysler aluminum 6bbl intake and Holley carbs topped off stroker motors hit the numbers I want.
Also the ModMan intake, although I have seen mixed reviews, seems to be the best choice for a stroker motor because of the larger plenum volume and it is a single plane intake.
I could also get Wilson Manifolds to do a Vanke modification to the Edelbrock/Chrysler intake to get more peak power from a stroker motor or even a stout standard stroke 440.
Both of these intakes are compatible with the N96 system, and I think the N96 is THE coolest looking fresh air setup of the ENTIRE muscle car era, so having a fully functional N96 system is high on my list and the hood is already painted and installed, and I have a number of the other N96 components gathered up.
Without the replies and even the off topic discussions I would probably have a Weiand and I may have spent money, lost my N96 setup, and ultimately been disappointed in the end.

I used to be good behind the stick. I was often asked “What shift kit is in your transmission? I love how that things hits and the car reacts!”

I told them, “It’s a left foot express” to which there faces twisted up not understanding. So I had to show them the 3rd pedal.

One of the reasons I chose the 855 Passon unit is a rating of 700 continuous ft lbs of torque. I would be devastated if it broke, but I am going to pound on it nonetheless.

700hp and 3800# I broke all kinds of parts. This was the worst. I only had maybe 50 street miles and 3 passes on this box. I had just built it after liberty gears face plates and chryod the gears. Very cool trans, had a 2.93 first gear. After this I put a 727 in and haven’t looked back.

Wow..So the Hemi 833 was actually modded to be stronger than stock, yet still broke.
I will have to talk with "Mr 4 speed" Herb McCandless and see what kind of experiences he had with breakage and what they did to minimize it. I would imagine the class(es) he and his compadres ran in had to be dealing with similar horsepower and weight?
So here's hoping that my 855 can handle everything I throw at it for a long time!

When the shop where my Roadrunner is ran into a problem with the Hydramax hydraulic throwout bearing conversion kit, I did a YouTube search and it just so happens that the Mopar guy/shop that had a video come up, that also had a problem with the spacer and shims for his Hydramax, HAS A 505 STROKER RB WITH...THE Weiand P3690982 6bbl intake on his motor!
I emailed and called him. He modded 3 500 cfm Holley 2bbl carbs for his intake, but he's running the intake w/no internal mods, and loves it!
This was the video I spotted the intake in.

the 500’s are smaller carbs than the factory outboards. It’s under carb’d. I’d also be willing to bet that thing is far from optimum performance...

I'm confused because my understanding is the factory 6bbl is a 350 cfm center and 500 cfm each outboard carb, which is around 920 cfm measured in "4bbl inches of mercury" terms.

yes, the 500 carb is bigger than the factory center. That’s why we run them for center carbs. It is smaller than an outboard though. Your outboards are each 1/2 of an 850 by Venturi and throttle plate size. The 500 is 1/2 of a 750.

You have my full attention! Apologies if I missed your post(s) about you running a 500 CFM center carb on a 6bbl. Also, even though I've done a lot of research on the 6bbl, this:

..is the first time I've ever heard this! I have Dave Vizard's "Super Tune and Modify Holley Carburetors" book, but I haven't read any of it yet.
@68 HEMI GTS would you please elaborate on this, and/or point me in the direction where I can learn more?
Also, would you suggest I consider buying the Direct Connection 3x Holley 2bbl mech carbs w/metering blocks, accelerator pumps, and mechanical linkage at some point, or maybe just the center 500 CFM from that setup (although having that one fuel bowl inlet on the opposite side from the outboard carbs would be weird) OR having 3x 4412 carbs modded? The other thing is instead of "all that" I've liked the F&B DPI/EFI 3x2 setup for the Weiand for a long time, so I've always thought that would be the only other thing I'd do if I switch from my Promax modded carbs I have now, although just swapping out the center carb would be relatively easy and not too expensive.
