i need ideas how to get the reverse detent check ball out of my A833 without pulling the trans if possible. It was a total bone head move on my part! I tried draining the fluid, small magnets, and blowing through the reverse detent access with compressed air. No luck! Ideas?

Maybe you could remove the reverse light and and try a magnet through the opening. Once you get it out, what's the plan on putting it back in?
If you have to remove the cover to put it back in, you may as well get started on that and fish it out that way.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I will just need to make sure the housing is in place before I put the ball and spring and retaining bolt back in.

Make sure to double check your drain pan for it.
Not in the drain pan unfortunately. For sure on the **** happening. I just hate when it's my own fault for being stupid and not paying more attention.

I had this happen to me as well. With the cover off, I was able to use a small magnet on the tip of an extendable wand to retrieve it. I also used a small mirror to see what I was doing.
