rewiring the car soon

As soon as I get my switch panel placed I'm going to be running new wires to the headlights and tails with running lights. Was thinking of using a three position pull switch and power given off a fused switched or off ignition power, but would relays still be needed for the head lights for a safety measure?

needed,no.a good idea,yes.why not add the safety if you are already rewiring?

Another question, are you all doing anything to your tail light housings or just cleaning them the best you can? My buld sockets are pretty nasty looking from sitting with broken tail light lens' s. Has anyone tried to replace these?
