I have a 650 Edelbrock, car was running beautiful, then it went to the shop for frame rails now she's running very rich. 89 Octane, was using octane supreme 130 with 91 now (hurt the pocket so I stopped)

Cam: 292/.509"

Car runs very rich, put a 1 inch spacer and now it burns my eyes? Lots of water coming out of the exhaust?

Running at 16 degrees idling and can't see how advanced at 2000RPm Rides up under water pump. (unless you guys know a way...)

Do I need to rebuild it? Mess with the idle mixture? I tried going in all the way, then out to find good idle, but she wouldn't budge and when it was all the way in it would stall when I screwed it out.

Don't have a PSI for fuel pump, How do I go about checking it?

For your timing, use a dial-back timing light, or a timing tape on the damper.

Any signs of excess fuel dribbling out of the venturis when the car is running?
 
I have the same Carb currently on my 440 Hp engine.... if I use ported Vacuum... the carb runs rich @ idle because I have to open the Trottle blades ( idle speed screw ) way to much... so the main circuit is involved while ideling...
So yesterday I made a test..... switched to manifold vacuum... now the Mixture is way leaner ! Because I raised the idle speed with the timing... 30 deg btdc @ Idle now ( because the vacuum canister puts an additional 18 crank degrees on top of the 12 deg initial...
THe trottle blades are more or less closed now.... the idle is smoooooth...
And yes... forgot... all in the ignition timing is 33 deg btdc @ 3000 rpm with the vacuum advance I have 51 deg while cruising

...and.. check your float level ! I would set them a little ( 3 /64 ) lower than 7/16.. 7 /16 looks a little high for my taste...
 
Might be the meetering rods are in the "engine wants more fuel" position instead of the idle position. If you are running a lower vacuum engine set up you will need to change the springs that control when the meetering rods change position. Check for any vacuum leaks first. Adjust the idle timming and use a gauge to see what the vacuum is. Edelbrock has different springs that are very easy to change. You can search the net or read the tunning instructions to see how. You may also want to make sure the float or needle and seat are good too. If you had the carb off it may have gotten bumped or got a bit of dirt in the line and it's over flowing fuel.
