RIP Ozzy

More Fake News , CNN and MSNBC are at it again.

IDK about "not contributing anything"...

These lyrics are pretty profound and compelling and still ring true today:

Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate

Mental wounds not healing
Life's a bitter shame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train

Let's go
I've listened to preachers
I've listened to fools
I've whistled at dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it, and you live the role

Mental wounds still screaming
Driving me insane
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train

I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words, yeah

Heirs of a cold war
That's what we've become
Inheriting troubles, I'm mentally numb
Crazy, I just cannot bear
I'm living with something that just isn't fair

He was pretty good at finding the best available guitar player, too.

He's also had songs that got massive radio airplay in six decades.

He just looks dead and yes, most of his brain cells have left the building. Time will tell .............

Hasn't he pretty much always been that way?? And anyone that has worked hard, played hard and enjoyed life is going to look a bit used up by the time they are 74.....

Of course there's also this-

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerer of death's construction
In the fields, the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh lord, yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor, yeah
Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait till their judgement day comes, yeah!

Now in darkness, world stops turning
Ashes where their bodies burning
No more war pigs have the power
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan laughing, spreads his wings
Oh lord, yeah!

From 1970!

...and still gets airplay on modern "rock" stations!

War Pigs was a good one but so were many others of his songs.

He's certainly struggled with addiction, like many other artists.

Several of his songs address that, including the most recent.

This one was seriously misunderstood when fresh-

Wine is fine but whiskey's quicker
Suicide is slow with liquor
Take a bottle and drown your sorrows
Then it floods away tomorrows
Away tomorrows

Evil thoughts and evil doings
Cold, alone you hang in ruins
Thought that you'd escape the reaper
You can't escape the master keeper

'Cause you feel life's unreal, and you're living a lie
Such a shame who's to blame and you're wondering why
Then you ask from your cask is there life after birth
What you sow can mean hell on this earth
Hell on this earth

Now you live inside a bottle
The reaper's traveling at full throttle
It's catching you but you don't see
The reaper is you and the reaper is me

Breaking laws, knocking doors
But there's no one at home
Made your bed, rest your head
But you lie there and moan
Where to hide, suicide is the only way out
Don't you know what it's really about

Ah, now people, you really know where it's at
Ah, ah you got it, fox
Get the flaps out, Satan, Satan, Satan, ha ha ha

Wine is fine but whiskey's quicker
Suicide is slow with liquor
Take a bottle, drown your sorrows
Then it floods away tomorrows
Take me away
Oh, oh, tomorrow
It's never gettin' fixed, no flaps, nobody, no flaps, nothing?

I present exhibits A, B, and, C to motion that this person is a brilliant poet/songwriter.

I've been around like a donut, some took trips and never came back and some took a slow trip, many, many, many times. I can't say I'll be here at 74, as I said, time will tell. I do know one thing, if you and I had the money he spent on taking a trip and never leaving the farm, you and I would own thousands and thousands of acres............ Keep on Truckin!!! .... LOL

Apparently still struggling.
Writing about it is likely good self induced therapy.

2020-

Today I woke up and I hate myself
Death doesn't answer when I cry for help
No high could save me from the depths of hell
I'll drown my mind until I'm someone else
Don't take care of me, be scared of me
My misery owns me
I don't wanna be my enemy
My misery owns me now
Under the graveyard
We're all rotting bones
Oh, oh

Everything you are
Can't take it when you go
Oh, oh
I ain't living this lie no more
Ain't living this lie no more
Oh, oh
It's cold in the graveyard
We all die alone

Cover my eyes so I can't see clear
One sip away from everything I fear
Ashes to ashes, watch me disappear
Closer to home because the end is near
Don't take care of me, be scared of me
My misery owns me
I don't wanna to be my enemy
My misery owns me now

Under the graveyard
We're all rotting bones
Oh, oh
Everything you are
Can't take it when you go
Oh, oh
I ain't living this lie no more
Ain't living this lie no more
Oh, oh
It's cold in the graveyard
We all die alone

Under the graveyard
We're all rotting bones
Oh, oh
Everything you are
Can't take it when you go
Oh, oh
I ain't living this lie no more
Ain't living this lie no more
Oh, oh
It's cold in the graveyard
We all die alone
Oh, oh

I hear - “I worship” the dropouts who make their own rules.

Gotta love the guys (& gals) that make there own rules and don’t always follow the masses drum beats.

My favorite Black Sabbath song.
Grim but relevant today.

Yeah, some stuff is sketchy to translate.
Also lots of odd background vocalizations, sped up, slowed down, backwards, piped from the control room, etc.
