Road Trip Gulf Coast to NorCal

And at the middle point of Rt 66

For the first time, my wife and I decided not to drive into Centennial Plaza to pick up our registration packs, but parked across the street by the beach instead. In a mile of parking spots we found one for each of us about a half mile apart.
Walked right up and got our bags o' registration swag (NO LINE). We preregistered.
:bananadance:
Grabbed some venue grub (grilled cheeseburgers and fries) and as we roamed about looking at the cars parked at that venue, noticed a rather foreboding looking dark cloud headed towards us. By the time we made it to Beach Blvd it had started to rain a little. Got in our cars and headed back towards our house. Nothing really happening along the way but more sprinkles and distantly visible downpours, so we came home by 4pm.
I ordered a Cold Case radiator for each of our cars today. That was something both cars were going to get in preparation for A/C anyway, and I think that the worry or actuality of overheating will be a thing of the past.
Here's some pix from today. Despite being at the same venue, we missed Denis and 747. I guess we left around the time they were getting there.
Started out with some $2.99/gallon no ethanol premium gas at the station 5 minutes from my house :bananadance::confederateflag:

Possibly the COOLEST "flames" I've EVER seen! The sheet metal was cut out to make up the flames engine cover! Oh, and IT'S A HEMI! :bananadance:

that's Mark's TA clone

As attractive as Courtney is, and she is, what really impresses me is how genuinely nice she is. She's the opposite of Dennis Gauge of "My Classic Car" in personality, he's a straight up asshole.
That guy....The stupid hat, the fagetty mustache...The gay mannerisms. I'd like to shove him into a porta potty and force him to eat the piss mint.

Rolling. All well. Vent issue solved. Great German meal. Clean Chevy motor. Mechanic at the wheel. Oklahoma is OK.

How was the vent fixed?
Ran another one. No odor or leak now. Not sure yet if it got compromised somehow when the tank was dropped to replace the pump. Speculating that the whole fiasco started with bad fuel. Heading for Amarillo in the morning.

Dennis let me drive his baby. I hope I didn't hurt it too much. There were a couple of 3rd gear take offs getting used to the close ratio gear box but I didn't stall it. Now I know why his left leg is bigger than the other. :)

We had another meal together, as Dennis mentioned, and explored one possible path to access Route 66 via Bethany and Warr Acres so Dennis can decide if he wants to go through there or just follow I-40 and jump of at historic locations.

The Harris's are great folks. God speed, Dennis and Linda.

:praying::praying::praying:No more problems on your vacation.

Mary and I buzzed through Shamrock in 2007 while on our Route 66 trip. I saw a lot with 29 Ford Edsels in it. Cute town too, nice buildings.

We pull in to Clinton, Oklahoma to see the Museum. The local PD with a couple Charger Patrol cars were making a traffic stop. RIGHT AT the near side driveway. 4 lane, so I drifted left to allow room and Linda says you’re MISSING it. Jesus Chrysler. So we park in the cripple spot
(one of Linda’s horses stepped on her foot 30 years ago, 12 operations later), get out and the guy parked next to me says “you are leaking fuel. I said thanks. We had just fueled up and it was overfilled to the point where I put the cap on to stop it from back flowing. I was talking to a local who stopped to tell me that he has a 69 Bee in his garage. I said, “thanks for letting me know about the fuel and lowered the plate to check the cap. He said, no it’s coming out ahead of the right rear tire. **** me.
