I have a 68 Coronet that I am currently in the process of getting ready for paint. I will be putting the rocker mouldings on the car and i just got the clips for the rocker mouldings so I could make sure I had the right size hole in the rocker. Does anyone have dimensions or pictures showing the location of the holes on the rockers? I am trying to determine how far down on the rocker they need to be. I would like to try to get the moulding close to the factory location.

Thanks!

Craig

This isn't my car but shows two holes right up front, mine didn't have the two holes just one. If I remember correctly I had 8 plastic clips down the rocker and one metal spring clip in the fender. My car is also a '69 RR so that may be the difference as well. Anyway this will give you an idea of where the holes are centered on rocker.

THanks for the picture.

Would you have a picture showing how the metal clip with the spring is oriented on the body? It is to tall for the mouldings, so I assume it sits on some angle. Do the plastic clips only hold the moulding by the very small thin tab that is on each end? It does not seem as though they will hold very well if taht is all the moulding is attached by.

Thanks!
Craig

As a side note, the clips I got from YO were too soft and allow the trim to pull away. Your eye is drawn to the gap. The original clips were stiffer material. FYI.

I do at home so I can post it when I get home if I remember. The metal spring clip is supposed to be too tall. You actually set the little spring wire in first then turn the plate part with the screw stud which actually puts a little tension on the sping wire and set in the moulding. It's hard to explain but I'll get that pic up.

After hearing the reproduction clips do not hold the moulding on very tight and looking at them more, I don't think I am going to put the mouldings on unless I can determine another secure way to attach them. Has any one used doublesided tape similar to mouldings on newer cars?

To me it looks like two holes right at the rear. That's the quarter panel.
