Sure sounds like its going to be a sweet one! Ive had two of the 383 (68-69) and although stock completely, were real runners.. Good luck.

thanks guys, forgot to add that the guy who built it thought it might produce somewhere in the range of 375-400 HP.if you've got any ideas on that +/-, i'd be willing to hear them.

haven't done much withit yet donny,to be honest i'm kinda nervous to get started on it.been putting most of my time on the ramcharger. BUT,when that gets all primered, IT'S FULL ON WITH THE RR.

How come the exhaust side of the head wasnt masked? and the spark plug threads have paint in them? Are you planning on cleaning this up yourself? but id be po if the shop painted my valves , I always try to keep a gasket mating surface clean, is this not important for exhaust gaskets too ? ive never seen this before, is why I question it.... nice car though.

not sure myself since this is the first motor i've ever had rebuilt.I would have to ask the guy that built it. he has done several motors and has won MOPAR MUSCLE engine challenge 3 times now i believe.I would think he knew what he was doing.

From what ive read and heard, winning that challenge is no easy feat, There was a article that explained Ma Mopar really didn't make great effort to cover things when the engines were originally painted. With the fellow who did this maybe it was done for more originality, im just guessing but could explain it if originality plays a part in the challenge. Just a thought.

that could be possible. i wasn't going for originallity, just a good strong motor. you don't think the paint on the valve stems will hurt it when the motor gets up to operating temp?

Ive never heard of painting valve stems and i wouldn't suggest it, in the article they meant getting paint on exhaust manifolds and studs, things like that. If i can find it ill post it hear if you want to read it. You engine looks great to me.

thanks, that would be great. It might take me a little time to get to read it,i am back on the road today after a weeks vacation.

Cam Quest has a free download now that you could put the information into with your engine, maybe you could come up with just what it may have or do. ill leave the link in case you are interested. Will tried it, maybe he could tell you some about how affective it really is. From what ive read about it, it sounds like there's a lot of guys who like it pretty good. just a thought!

thanks RON73 and TheSwede,i did read the mopar muscle link you guys put up and it sounds awefull close to what the guy did to my engine.I also asked him about the paint on the valve stem and he told me not to worry about that cause it was on the exhaust side and would burn off.He said he's done that with other motors he's built for the dirt track racers and hasn't had any problems with them. I guess we'll see when i fire up the engine. Thanks again for the link.
