I am viewing a fender tag, WM23 N0A. I believe this to be Coronet, medium (Superbee), two door, 383, 1970 in the Lynch Road plant.

The second line codes at the TOP of the fender tag are 083 051 663. I am told these are historical sales codes before 1970.

Does anyone know what they decode too?

083 engine 051 rear axle 663 trans

(663 is really 668 on the tag for automatic 383-4bbl)

Those are from a Lynch Rd produced car. But yes, they are the driveline numbers.

083=383-4bl?
051=Rear axel. Does it decode what gears and what axel?
668=automatic. Does it decode to floor or column shift?

C16 on the fender tag would be for center console (and a woodgrain panel).

051 for a St. Louis '70 Charger would be
for a 383 4 BBL AUTO 8.75 AXLE 3.23:1 RATIO

I would "think" it would be the same for Lynch Road?

668 will tell us what trans it is by part number, nothing about a shifter.
If the interior code is for a bench seat then you know it's a column shift. If interior code is for bucket seats then it could still be a column auto.

Yes C16 should be on there if it had a console.

Can you post the tag photo?
