Hi I am upgrading my 73 roadrunner to a 440 with 727 from a 318 with 904. I was looking for the shifter linkage i would need for the swap and the shifter rods Ive found said they work with either. Is that right will my console shift and 904 linkage mount up to the 727 fine.

The 727 is physically larger so I doubt that it would be the same.

Right sounds logical if anyone knows what parts if any need to be replaced feel free to chime in

I cant say for sure on a console shift, but I jsut went through this with a column shift, and it was all the same. bolted up and works great.

I'll send you some linkage views in a few minutes (biological break).
I also have a lot of the pieces as well.

The console shifter and linkage are all the same from 904 to 727 on that year. You don't need any other parts. If you had a column shift the only part that is different from 904 to 727 in that year is the trans mounting bracket for the cross shaft

cool im console so it should all bolt right up. im guessing the kick down assembly is different though you guys have any info on that and if it wont work how do those cabke setups work.

Yes will bolt right up providing the trans you are using has the tabs cast on the tail housing for the torque shaft trans bracket to mount onto. Yes the kick down linkage is all different from 318/904 to 440/727 including the throttle bracket. Sorry don't know about the cables
