So I took my 440 Six Pack apart this past weekend to do some repairs and while I was at it, decided to check the adjustments on the secondaries. All the tuning articles I've read state that the secondary idle adjustment screws should be turned out 1/8 or at most 1/4 turn out. Mine were freaking turned out 3 full turns!! No wonder I didn't get much reaction when messing with the primary carb and the idle mixture screws, it was getting the fuel from elsewhere. Turned the screws back in and out a 1/4 turn and now the primary carb is much more responsive to adjustments. Hopefully I gain something in fuel economy too.

Once there out more than 3/4 turn it usually kills center carb adjustment.

I had that happen on a T/A I had a few years back. You could see the gas dribbling into the carb when you looked down the carb with it idling.
