She's a sound sleeper.

I am a REAL sound sleeper.
When I was a kid in high school, we lived in a housing development in a 2 story house on a corner lot. MY window faced the street. One night, a high speed chase went down my street and a car crashed and rolled over at the intersection. Police, fire, ambulances, sirens....
I walked out to go to school the next day to see scrapes, oil, burned out flares and glass on the street.
Hey man, what the heck happened??
I slept through the whole thing.

I'm jealous, KD. I'm just the opposite - in fact, I'm lucky to get 4 hours a night, tops.
I'm a sleepwalker, too.
Before all the cancers and dying and all that crap, I was like you - out like a light, would sleep in if I could, etc.
Now, doesn't matter how tired I am - I'm jumping up like someone smacked me upside the head, every friggin night around 3am (or earlier). Shrinks would have a field day with that, I imagine.
It's part of the "new normal" the docs like to refer to.

Oh, to answer the original question: No, I don't mess with anyone who's fast asleep, dogs or otherwise. I know the value of a good snooze and leave them be.

I can't believe my boxer mix doesn't wake herself up..she wiggles and whimpers and her legs flop around like she's chasing the squirrels. Not to mention snoring like a lumberjack!

My Giggles snore and kicks like she's running when she's sleeping, but I dont like to wake her up, dont be mean and let her rest.

I think that stuff is great.
Our beloved white Lab "Mopar" would never bark when awake..BUT when sleeping, he would chirp and bark as if an intruder stumbled into the yard uninvited.
Another Lab we had would howl in his sleep like a domesticated wolf.

Yes, my Rothie does the same thing, she can run like hell when fast asleep. I always wonder what she is dreaming about.

Anyone else play while they sleep?

she must feel secure in her surrounding

not a worry in the world

My Elvis (chocolate lab) sleeps well, 12-16 hrs a day
but he's a really light sleeper
it seems he doesn't want to miss out on anything

if he hears me rustling around 'at all'
he's gotta' be by my side 'to help'

we have acorn woodpeckers (protected black & white, with red cheek bastards)
bad this time of year
(I have the fake Red Tail Hawk & fake Owls decoys, sort of scarecrows to scare them somewhat)
It's like he waits, just to hear the knocking/pounding/pecking,
he's loaded & ready to go, spring into action
(them M-f-ers, pecking on my house trim)
so he can go out & chase them off, gets really close at times

or when he sees or hears the raccoons or squirrels on the deck
it's instant awake/alert too

otherwise he sleeps well

My guy only sleeps when he has his chin on my foot. In bed or sitting in a chair. He monitors every movement! 2yr. old Boxer, husky, rotti mix, high energy! wife adopted him a yr. ago and he adopted me. when she grabs his leish to go for a walk he runs to me. I know it ticks her off because she never had a dog growing up and thought she was getting a new BFF.
