I want to put an aftermarket shifter in my 69 superbee,I am thinking a b&m starshifter or a zgate, I need it to be period correct.Any imput would be appreciated, I notied today B&ms websight is now Hurst

I recently put a Star Shifter in a '71 Charger which looked right at home. I can not remember exactly when those came out, but they have been around for a long time. There were other shifters back in "the day" along with Hurst and B&M; Fenton and Mr. Gasket come to mind immediately.

Since you have a 'Bee though, I really recommend finding an original Slap Stik and console. They work best of all for street use, and you would be correct all the way around. If you can't afford the entire set up, just piece together the Slap Stik itself and build a mini console for it.

My car has a bench seat. think i will try a quick silver

I have a B&M Pro Stick in my Belvedere, it works ok but it has reverse lock out and you need two hand to operate it.........A real pain when I have the belts on.

I was thinking of changing to either a Cheeta or Hurst with single hand pull up lock out, But I have been pondering changing over to a 4 speed, So untill I make up my mind I'll keep the Pro Stick

Hope this helps.......Good luck

Depending on how far "Back in the day" you want to go....
B&M Starshifter or Hurst Quarterstick....

I bought a Hurst promatic on line today. Mostly because of price. I think it looks period correct as well
