Someone tell me the correct way to remove/install the shock bushing before I do something drastic. Apparently everyone else was born knowing how to do this, because I've watched a couple B body front end videos, consulted the FSM, consulted the Chilton's manual, and this bushing is omitted every time.

Cut it in half, top from bottom, with a razor blade, and simply remove it. Use the new ones provided on installation...

The original bushing (which that is, or it's the same design as the original) is a one pice bushing inserted from the top... That style bushing installs pretty easy with a little lube...
Removal is harder cause once installed it gets compressed & after years it doesn't return to it's original shape... To remove it you have to cut it...

Most shocks come with an upper & lower biscuit so you just install one pieve on the shoch, then put the shock through the hole & install the second biscuit, washer & nut...

I doubt you can get them out in one piece.
Pull the inner sleeve out and cut them off.
replace with new like so

Take punch or large screwdriver push steel bushing down and out. Take screwdriver and push in from the outside and down on rubber bushing. The bushing will fall out.

I cut the tough one out last night - the one on the other side crumbled apart in my hands.
