my girlfriend just asked me something i thought i would never hear. the words that came out of her mouth was hard to take. she asked me when i was going to get rid of the two junk cars in the garage. :argue:

To put this question in perspective: Are they junk cars or are they nice old cars? Maybe she has a point? Maybe she hasn't got a clue about what a classic car is. My wife actually felt sorry for people that tooled around in old cars until she met me. She can tell a classic from a parts car though.

I got into Mopars after I got married. Initially my wife thought I was nuts to buy the Charger. The other day she said "I think you being so into that car is great. It relaxes you, makes you smile." Never mind she loves going for rides in it, and has no interest in driving it!

Doesn't get much better.

My advice- before you kick her to the curb, explain that being into cars is a hell of a lot better than being into... motorcycles, drugs, banging other women, etc. If she doesn't wake up to how cool a hobby this is, then it's time for her to go. Good luck!

Wait, are you suggesting that you can't restore old cars AND go to gentlemen's clubs and bars too? Never knew I needed to make a choice! Hmmm, decisions, decisions...um, lemme get back to you on that!

When my wife and I were dating (well over 30 years ago), I drove a 65 GTO. One of the broads she worked with asked "what kind of car does he drive?" My wife responded "I don't know. Some old bomb".

Couple of weeks later she shows up at my apartment driving her Datsun B210. It was blowing smoke like a destroyer on D-Day. She's blubbering, "I can't afford a new car", blah, blah, blah.

OK, off to the napa store to buy a vacuum modulator. Drive the car up onto a pile of dirt, climb underneath, swap out the vacuum modulator, and in half an hour, I come in out of the SLEET and RAIN, shivering like a nervous Chihuaha dog.

Found her in the dark, wearing a smile. and little else.

They never appreciate gearheads, until they really need one.
