is there any reasonable(priced) shocks for the front of my belvedere. i find it very boaty
and soft , i have the slant six in there with p/s and wondering is the car just like that on the highway, the steering box is from a dodge diplomat and i used a the pitman arm from a
mid 70 dodge ( i forget witch model oops). i installed the diff from the diplomat , its a 8 1/4
i will eventually make a pan hard rod for the diff. i find the car loose at higher speeds like
70 mph. so im wondering is it like that or i need to get stronger torsion bars ,or is the mods i done made it like that, i only drove the car 2 weeks before doing the tear down and mods over the winter ,
and yes i have anti sway bars all around from summit
thanks for the help

Not cheap, but a Firm Feel Stage 2 box, and pair of Bilstein shocks would be transformational.

You want to save money? Who doesn't ??
Cheap shocks are worth what you pay. If you have stock torsion bars, some people will "crutch" this by using a stiff shock like a KYB. What this does is add stiffness to a soft torsion bar, giving the driver the impression that the car handles better. It will be a little better but the KYB shocks also help you find new noises and rattles in your car. Coins in the ashtray? You'll hear those. Anything in the trunk? You'll hear that too.
Oh, also....NOBODY runs a panhard rod on a Mopar. The leaf springs and sway bar do an excellent job of keeping the rear axle in place. A coil spring setup needs one, a coil over style would too but not with the stock Mopar arrangement.

Finally, if you get to the point where you have some money to spend, consider the following "recipe" for a great handling car:
1.03 to 1.15 torsion bars.
1.25 front sway bar.
Aftermarket Adjustable upper control arms
Alignment set to .75 NEG Camber, 5 degrees or more POS Caster, 1/8" toe in.
Mopar HD leaf springs. .75 rear sway bar.
Bilstein shocks.
WELDED subframe connectors.
17" to 18" wheels.
255-40 front tires, 285-40 rear tires in a 200 treadwear rating.

Really interesting thread, I have a 1970 Dodge Coronet 500 With a 383 4Bbl and it was ordered Stock -imagine this- without a front Sway bar , making it kinda droopsy in corners. Like you said Kern Dog, I installed a Hotchkiss front Sway bar, I bet its 1,25, then 15" 225/70 in front and 275/60/15 in rear, had the rear springs reconditioned and stiffened by one more leaf and...wow -result is amazing handling - So...my question: Who sells and what type of Bilstein shocks should I get ? :) Thanks
