Shop safety tip of the day, or the golden horseshoe award. For 12 years I've had a tire filler chucked into the hose reel on the 2 post lift. I also usually have the windows up in the cars, but was airing the Bird out after running the ozonator in it. Fired up the air compressor today and just after it had shut off I heard an air leak and then a pop. No dents in cars, but the threaded in portion shot in through the passenger window of the Bird, out the drivers side and across the floor under the Bee!

Whew, I couldn't begin to imagine your rage if it had cannoned into the door of the bird after it's new paint job. More importantly though, thankfully nobody was hurt.

Somebody's looking out for you! That's the best news I have heard today.

Lucky streak.

This is a good time to mention to stop dropping those on the cement floor when your done using them.

That was very fortunate, you were due some good luck after the pop machine deal.

Main line ball valve and a hose bleed off valve is in your future.
Tho they don't help much while you are working.

Man, that's a close call! If that hit one of your cars, I could see you going potal.

I always take my air chuck out when I'm done for fear of this very event. I've seen it before. I also make sure that the air hose attachment on my small, portable compressor is not facing one of my cars as I've seen the air hose itself blow loose and go flying with considerable force.

Yikes and great safety tip

Buy a lottery ticket! Very lucky.
In April my air chuck did the same thing. I think it might have been 20+ years old.
Bought a cheap set on Amazon, and they were actually pretty good quality, better than expected.
Amazon links are a pain. Description is: WNCGC Portable Inflator Compressor Accessories:

Wayne,
For some reason I always remove the air tool, air nozzle or chuck from the hose when finished.
After seeing what happened to you I am glad I do this!
