Does anyone have any advise on what to use to make the foil on soundeadener black so it cant be seen through the perforated headliner? I dont want to use spray paint at this point.

What about black latex paint and a roller or brush?

A brush and roller sounds like the way to go. you think latex will stick to it? i guess i could try a sample.

Scuff it with Scotch Brite pads to take the shine off, that will also provide some slight texture for the paint to grab ahold of.

If the latex doesn't stick you could use contact adhesive and a thin black cloth, like speaker cloth or felt sheets.

I did the roof in 2 cars.

Just sprayed the foil cover with flat black paint.

Both were done over 10 years ago now.

No issues to date

If the issue is overspray, I sure see the appeal of other methods.

It sounds like yours is already done. But if not or if you wanted go over it the stuff at the link below is what I put on the roof since it is black. You cannot see it through the headliner.

Damplifier™ Deadening Mats

How about mat black vinyl squares from Michael's? With the deadening mats it shouldn't get too hot for that adhesive.

Yeah I just didnt want to chance getting overspray on anything, freshly out of paint jail, has lizard skin deadener and ceramic, just thought the firewall and roof could use insulation and I already have stuff with foil, black would have been better, closed cell foam 5/8 for the firewall and 3/8 for the roof amazon stuff, the price was right. Thanks for your suggestions
