Anybody have any suggestions for a cheap sound proofing system? I am going to seal the floor pans with POR 15 and am looking for something to go on top of this. Dont want to spend alot of money but while I have the seats out and rust proofing the floor pans I thought about adding something to make the vehicle a little quieter.

When I had my interior gutted for a pan replacement I laid down 1/2" heat shield insulation, 1/2" fiber padding over that, and then a new carpet. Then I could hear my radio over the Flowmasters for the first time.

I layed down Rattletrap...Same as dynamat, heck of a lot cheaper. Bought it off ebay. Did the inside of my roof, inside the doors, inside the quarters and the floors from the firewall all the way back to the start of the trunk pan. Bought 100 Sq/ft and still have a bunch left. Believe I paid $200. Sounds like you could get away with about 25 Sq/ft..That would run you arounf $50-60 bucks I would think...

my 2cents..

The way i did mine isint what most would do but i used some 1/8 inch thick insulation board, a friend gave me a 1/2 truck load of it and never did know what i would use it for, I have no idea what it was for as thin as it was but when the time came i thought about it and it was easy to work with, cut holes around seat mounts ect, and it turned out all pink interior (all hidden with interior pieces though)lol.. I know its not the perfered way but hey, it seems to ride the mile down our road to get to payment great, and neatly done... right or wrong.. I just don't have any idea where to get it and how much it costs but Props way should work and cheaper, then the regular name brand stuff, i wish i would have known at the time about it.

I used Protecto Wrap, it was recommended as a cheap alternative to Dynomat. You can buy it at Home Depot. Works great and was easy to install. Car is quiet enough to hold a conversation inside with 3" full exhaust with dynomax bullets.

Thanks guys Great Ideas.
I have remodeled many houses and I also think alot of the products mentioned above are a great idea also. Ron I believe the stuff you used is called House Wrap and it is nailed to the exterior of a house (pink and comes in bundles 1/8in thick). I used this just under Vinyl siding to seal the house up and give a semi level surfact to nail the siding to. I
I am leaning to using something that sticks to the floor since I am going to paint POR15 on the floor and had a concerned about adhesion.

I used on my Charger and it's worth every cent. It really runs cooler and is quiet. My Roadrunner with OE interior was horrible in the same weather...it was like having a heater blowing all the time.
