Hello. I would like to ask what the correct length of steering shaft coupler is for a 69 charger is with power steering. 3.0 or 3.5? I bought the 3.5. Another question is the retaining plate vs the clip. Does the clip hold the plate tight to the rubber instead of beating down the tabs which do virtually nothing to hold that on. I wasted one tonight trying to assemble it. While looking for parts I read the charger used a 3.0 coupler. I could prob just modify mine and mill it shorter to 3.0 I’m wondering. Any help?

There are only two different couplers one for manual steering and one for power steering. Those retainers are tricky to install one of the main things is to not have a bunch of grease on the rubber and retainer as well as the outside of the coupler body.

A 69 charger would not have a different coupler than any other 69 B body. If the 3.5" one fits then shortening it would be a waste of time. Use the spring clip if you can't get the tabs to hold the cover on.

I meant add above but the coupler body for power steering is 3”
