Thanks for all the advice guys, and big thanks to 72roadrunnerGTX for the info. and for selling me the parts to fix this issue right! I rebuilt the steering column with the correct '72 parts and eliminated the '73 and up isolator. Now it is back to stock and steers great with no slop.
