Stellantis Struggles Continue

Thye should have brought back the Dakota,
all the competitors in the US have a midsized truck
(or Compact truck, I have no interest in)
they have them in Latin market, still, as a Ram 1200 (IIRC)
especially in 4x4, even if only a v6 or that 'hurricane 6'
& a v8 would be far better, & that would sell here too...

now I saw
it will be 2026 model year before it's (Dakota or maybe Rampage unibody wtf) offered,
the way it's going, it may never be...

Majority French/Dutch ran/owned 'Stellantis' Dodge Ram Jeep Chrysler (?)
also Peugeot, Citroën, Renault, Fiat, Opel :blah:
a bunch of other (French & Italian) lil' POS crap-boxes,
it's the 4th largest automotive co. in the world, but now totally sucks in the US

Management have strange ideas, for sales & ways of running their businesses,
especially for USA market, not the Euro-crap
now massive recalls for 'air bags' too, mass lay offs (US mostly, UAW Union extortion)
& executives bailing or getting axed too, among sales slumps
it's like they have no idea who/whom their demographic/actual buyers
especially in the US are...

Stylish & affordable muscle, V8 powered trucks, cars, SUVs, maybe a CUV,
but not EV crap, they were/are pushing & especially not
lil' **** foreign market compact crap-boxes either...

I have no interest in most any of them, other than Ram & Jeep
now our beloved Dodge is gone down the tubes, killed what they sold here..
Govt. compliant Eurotrash BS

I have no interest in a Hornet twin turbo'd 6 or not, ever
who freaken' gives a ****
My second gen 1999 Dakota 4x4 5.2ltr v8 SLT Ext.cab
I have no leg room issues at all (1st gens maybe smaller)
yeah my seat is back all the way & I have tilt steering,
I'm not cramped at all
steering isn't way up or any weird ****
I'm over 6'1" (was 6'2"+, but I'm shrinking, getting old)
I have 36" inseams, relatively normal length legs, for my height,
a long torso too
plenty of head room even with a hat on
& I pushing 250#+, you could say I ain't no lil' dude

I fit just fine

someone says it has no leg room or a tight fit
(say What ?)

fits great in my lil' track home 20' deep garage too

plenty of leg room, unless you're 6'5" or something or over 300#+'s

2020 Gladiator Rubicon (no/deleted decal) Limited Launch Edition, has plenty of room too
although I like my ol' Dakota 4x4 better

I still believe if they sold
the Gladiator as a two door,
6 foot bed, (and upped the
GVW a bit), and a V-8
under the hood, they'd sell
a bunch of them.
Poor sales is a direct
reflection as to what buyers
truly want.
Yeah an extended cab & lil' longer bed
in a 2 door, that would be cool addition
or just put a Dakota/Ram 1200 (Latin market) body on it
keep it a body on chassis, real truck instead of the what they proposed
as a Unibody build
they already have the engineering with the Jeep & MoPar (Dodge) drivetrain
especially if it had a v8 option, & still use something like the
Rubicon, air lockers & Dana 44 axles, 33.4" 295/17/70 tires on 17" wheels

The Rampage in Brazil is selling briskly, pushing Ram sales in Q1 2024 to 206% higher than last year.

Meanwhile, Stellantis in Mexico has been posting record sales, partly due to the Ram 700 that we don't get here.

Yeah try hauling home your 4x8 plywood or hooking that POS up to a 24' car trailer and pull it up a 10 mile 8% grade. Nice little toy though or good for a city commuter.

Aren't these Fiat based wrong wheel drive cars with a truck bed?
They're different platforms. The Rampage is similar to the Jeep Compass, and is powered by a choice of diesel or 272 hp. turbo four cylinder hurricane engine and built in Brazil. It is all wheel drive, and the diesel version will carry 2237 pounds of cargo. The first 500 vehicles sold out in 28 minutes when they went on sale.

The Ram 700 is much smaller, based on the Fiat Strada, but also offers all wheel drive.

I've always read that a 3 year old with 'average' mileage is the way to go but who puts average miles on them. My GF's truck isn't even 2 yet and already has 25k on it. Over the years I've bought 2 vehicles that were 2 years old or so and both had 40k on them and both of them were bought in the 70's so that was considered high. Both ran good though and didn't give any problems. One wasn't kept for more than 2 years but not due to the vehicle itself and the other was kept for 5 years and only sold because I needed a truck that was way more than the one I had.
Yet my 99 Dakota SLT 4x4 318cid/5.2ltr has only 62k miles,
it's 25 years old, I doubt I will ever sell it...

You or I the general public...
Couldn't replace it for what I could sell it for, why ?
when it best Truck 'hands down' I've ever owned
reliable, relatively economical
especially compared to my old 02 F350 4x4 PD Dually Diesel
or even either of my 95 or my 98 Power Rams Cummins 5.9ltr/360cid turbo diesels
yeah it may not be able to haul as much as full size
or tow as much as a full size
but it will run circles around them offroad & or handling wise
& can still haul anything I want at this time...
I'm 6'1" to 6'2" 250 #s give or take I'm getting old shrinking
I have no issues fitting comfortably in it ever...

It's not a mile off the ground, & it doesn't need to be
it's the perfect sized for anything I do now...

I've towed my 68 RR on an open trailer behind it
more times than I can remember...
It's never/ever had any issues of power or stopping etc.
or room to haul what I need to...
& still be enjoyable to drive when not towing
or hauling 2000#s of crap, which it's done plenty over 25 years too

it fits in a lil' 20'x20' track home garage too, right next to the RR

I was told a few weeks ago by a few people that work at Kokomo, that Stellantis is outsourcing their powertrains. This will be their last contract. We'll see.

Still making money while swirling the drain. Maybe a few more years of decline and they will drop everything but Ram and maybe Jeep?

If you stop making cars people want to buy like this and start making EV crap people don't want.that's what happens!

Way to go Carlos! You sure are a smart guy! I see why you stay over there!

In my humble opinion, there's nothing wrong with a hybrid except the great complexity and weight, as long as the vehicle will still function when the battery eventually dies. I wouldnt mind a hybrid that I could make trips to town on the battery, and then put gas in it for a 250 mile trip (or 500) without having to worry about running out of juice in 110°weather in the middle of the california desert.
It's the ALL ELECTRIC push that is stupid.
But yeah, no interest in a $125,000 hybrid pickup truck with an engine NOT connected to the wheels in any way.

Putting a friggin twin turbo in a half-ton and then you wonder why sales are down.
My lease will be up on my Ram in Nov of next year and I am seriously considering a Ferd because of that stupid engine.

I think Jeep will live forever.
It's as iconic as VW.
But the Power Wagon
deserves it's own spot in
those ranks.

Aren't all the Ford F-150s also turbo 6 cylinders? I didn't know you could still buy one with a V8
