Good question.... I have not.

Stock 5qt pan, stock pickup, stock oil pump flat out for maybe 5-6 minutes, no issue....but it was a stock pump. I've got a high volume with 6qt pan on my current motor, but I've never revved it up for that long, so I have no idea.

Everything I am reading says the hemi came with a 402 pan which was a 5qt. system. What is the pan that holds 6 qts? My 6 qt pan rubs the drag link on my 68 Charger so I want to find one that fits and not do this again on my current stroker build. Any info is awesome!

Can't you shim the engine up?

The Hemi pan came on so equipped B-E cars. It should fit your 68, had a 70 383 Charger swapped the 402 for the Hemi pan and My 68 R/R has it. No fittment issues. What 6qt pan are you running?

As an update to this thread, I decided to go with the hemi pan from 440source and got the matching pick up. Ordered an aluminum water pump and housing from them too. The old pan was stamped 699 which is from a C body and was a bit crusty. For the price of a new pan, $89, it is kind of stupid to polish that old turd of a pan and at the same time, nice added insurance for little money. I’m excited to get this thing running in the engine test stand. Will be one more big step in the resto process!

Summit,Mancini,440 Source all sell the Hemi pan. Yeah I am sure they are all Vachineese but work well, dont forget the pickup. Milodon makes a real nice copy and the quality is the best.

Mancini also has a pan package that uses a deepened 187? C-body style with the scallop for A-body clearance. The pick up dont fit for **** and has to be lenghtend.

The factory style Hemi and 70-71 440 Six Pack pan is readily available with a factory style pickup. This a factory design which will fit with no issues and offer you the six quarts of volume with the filter. The 66 to 69 Hemi pan offers the extra quart of capacity with the factory indent for the idler arm, but it will be approximately $100 more. The 402 pan is a five quart application with the filter and is approximately $50 more than the 70 style Hemi / Six Pack pan. Personally, I feel that the 70 style pan is a very nice reproduction and is not a light weight pan that flexes as it is removed.

I have a stock pan. Shift at 6700 rpm

Would almost bet your not running 6700 rpm for extended periods of time with that stock pan. Fifteen to twenty second runs would be the limit and marginal at that.

I run the 971 pan with 6 qts and a hv oilpump with no problems.

which oil pick-up do you have?

I have the mopar 3/8" pick-up. It was listed for that pan. I don't have the part#. I tried to look it look it up at Mancini, but no luck. It's from about 2001. They my be able to help over the phone.

Check when replacing pan and pickup. Aftermarket pickups are generally longer. Don't guess, measure to be safe.
