There was another thread on this before and it was cleared up. Before Discovery Channel got involved, their street races were pretty much illegal. Now that Discovery Channel is involved the streets they race on are closed and medical, emergency, lighting, and pretty much everything is taken care of so they can film and race. Kinda like what probably happens when Hollywood wants to close down a few square blocks to shoot a scene for a movie and blow stuff up. Yea a lot of scripted stuff to make it work for TV, but the races are real and those cars are no joke.

Watched it last night too. I for sure thought Dave Lutz's 57 would have won, being a drag week winner and all. Probably had it "detuned" to hook on the street and took to much out of it.
