StreetOutlaws

I think the reason NHRA got upset is because some of the cars and support trucks had NHRA numbers on them. According to Bangshift. The NHRA dosen't want to be associated in anyway with this show fake or not

I think from the sounds of it, a chit storm was started against the NHRA
because of them meddling into peoples private lives "off track",
doesn't do well for NHRA's already suffering public relations either, in many racers eyes...

the NHRA is being perceived like an over burdening, over regulated &
a failing type governing entity {sound familiar ?}
too big too fail, when they are not doing very well recently...

I gotta' say I love NHRA racing, always have,
but it's been going down hill for years,
I'd hate to see it getting to a no-win pissing match &
lose even more racers, sonsors or fans/attendances over a TV car show....

But I gotta' say,
they should stick to track stuff, let the others stuff go, mind their own business,
worry about what they can control in their own realm, not worry about a TV show...

they can't afford lose too many more participants, sponsors or spectators

It's all nonsense, a show about illegal street racing that is staged in a controlled environment, I say coookoo llamo would love to see them all do the same exact thing but at a track and show the young how to do things right instead of like a douchbag
---------Could not agree more. What we see is made for TV show glorifying a illegal dangerous activity. How many people have been killed or severely injured because of street racing? Now some profit driven tv executives have found yet another way to turn a buck. This is what society has come to and it aint pretty

The NHRA should sue the balls off discovery if there logo's are on display and shown on that show.

That show is just Giant egos and nothing but Chevys that is a no thanks in my book

It seems some haters just figured out not everything on TV is real. TV is for entertainment and producing entertainment cost money so it must make more money, thus scripting the direction of the show. I don't see any disclaimer that this is real, non scripted racing. Who cares! Its like the WWE Wrestling and people that hate the show because its fake, who cares. I say entertain me and keep it interesting...and it sure does. I'm fully aware they are racing on a controlled street. They aren't fooling anyone and really aren't trying too hard. To point out the obvious is redundant. If you want real watch Pinks...oh ya...the entertainment value of that show sunk so where did it go? No money...no funny!

What we have is a show about car people for car people. They wake up thinking cars and go to sleep thinking about cars. Sound familiar?

The NHRA needs to reinvent itself if it wants a future. I use to watch it all the time but it became a bore with the repetition and lack of entertainment value.

Haters? Did you ever consider responsibility in media broadcasting? Once again we see a show that does not depict the average guy into cars. What it portrays is a group of people who build race cars and run them on the street and engage in illegal gambling. While most older car guys would have enough common sense to understand its staged,id suggest that many don't. They see it for what it is and what it implicates. Organizations like NHRA have spent decades removing the stigma attached to drag racing. Maybe if the producers acknowledged that the streets were shut down by local law enforcement and it was controlled the reaction might be different.

Steve, you are correct in that the NHRA has indeed removed the stigma that was associated with drag/street racing. BUT, like NA$CAR, in their greed, they've driven out most spectators through insane pricing. They've made the competition so expensive that a very few select teams can afford the sport, even at the basic levels. They've commercialized everything to a point where every driver interview includes that driver giving credit to every single sponsor in one stupid sentence.

The StreetOutlaws show is set in CONTROLLED environments on closed-off streets, with the cops, EMTs, and all that lighting, ready to roll. Who are they harming? Not a soul. Anyone with half a mind figured that out the first time they see the show.

Maybe if NHRA got their corporate head out of its *** and rethought their processes, then MAYBE the NHRA would enjoy a resurgence among the every-day drag racers in America!!!

Pat,i agree with you but the problem for me is so many people don't have "half a mind" as you stated. Its not so much i don't like the show its the BS they put out there. I have many of the same thoughts with some of these restoration shops shows. Well speaking of half a mind, its about seven above and I'm headed outside to get my 383 runningLOL

Regarding the fake/set-up aspect of this show, the one thing that seemed more real was when they would go out late at night to some deserted road to do their "test hits". But every time, some police officer comes along and catches them and let's them off with just a warning. So if this part isn't fake too, then Oklahoma has got to have the most tolerant lawn enforcement officers ever in the history of mankind. If someone tried to pull this stuff in California on a public street they'd probably impound their car and then invite them to watch while it gets crushed later.
