yes it did Al; raced here in Sonoma many years.

I'll need to take a closer look at my 400 blocks & the 440's I still have to check out the main web difference. One thing I noticed in the 440 Source info that is not correct, the reinforcing rib below the freeze plugs started in '68. I've had at least three '68 blocks with the rib. '66 & '67 440 blocks no rib. The thin / thick cylinder wall issue sure is still interesting. The '76 &'77 blocks I sonic checked were slightly thinner than the '68 '69 & 70 blocks I had but not very much, maybe .015 - .025.

Hes a good guy, That'll be a good piece.
Doug
He is a good guy. we talked about doing some work on my 440 but after it lost a rod lt was time to look at another motor. He had a 440 and a this 511 so it was to good a deal to pass on. The motor is in and the trans goes in this morning.

Like Doug I build my own engines and trans and rears and so on. I took auto shop in high school and have tried to learn all I can over the years. I became a tech not only because I love it but I wanted to build all my own stuff for my cars. The 493 in my 63 I built myself and its a fairly mild combo by todays standards. I just wanted a 10 second driver that I could drive to the track and race in full street trim. And honestly I have not really ever got after it because of my health as I have alot of joint problems and it really is hard for me to stand around at the track to long and working on the car really bothers me so I just do a little at a time. But I would not want to use a stock 440 block and push much more then 650 hp. Much over that I would seriously consider an aftermarket block. I never dynoed my 440/493 but by the 10.70 ets through the full exh on 92 pump and 3725 lbs I believe it makes about 575 to 600 hp at the flywheel. If you click my sig and schroll down to the 2011 update it tells most of my 493 build. Good luck with yours. Ron

No, Chrysler CTC in the electrical lab. I LSM is close to my house though. Just like to build my own stuff. It's as much fun to me as racing. Engines, trans, axle, cage, sheet metal, wiring.
Doug
Ok noticed you're in the same town, LSM is doing my custom grind cam so I figured I'd ask
