Putting my 70 Charger back together
Originally it had a 2 speed windshield wiper motor in it
I have to swap it to a 3 speed motor because we now have a six pack set up on the 440 and need the clearance for the air cleaner

So question #1

Is the factory wire harness from the firewall plug to the ends by the dash switch the same for 2 speed vs 3 speed ?

Question #2

Until I round up a 3 speed dash switch will the 2 speed switch make the 3 speed motor work just on low and high speed if all the wires get plugged onto the motor end ?

Isnt the linkage different or a piece of it?

Is a "Charger" switch the same as any B-body switch ?? I have a couple extras. Probably have to get the correct chrome rocker - those are definately different from two to three speed.

Switch itself should be the same between any B body, not the rocker thought between standard and Rallye cluster being diff design. I don’t think there is a diff between 2 or 3 speeds rocker? Or they do?

Just thinking out loud.

The actual "chrome" rocker IS different between two and three speed - I know this for a fact.

I think the 3-speed switch is the same for all b-bodies 68-70. I know one switch IS different and I think its the headlight switch - which, on Chargers has a part to activate the headlight doors.

I'm sure the rocker is the same. I swapped a used 2 speed rocker onto a modified c body 3 speed switch without issue.

And I'm sure you're wrong! I swapped over to 3-speed wipers. Got the correct b-body switch with a crappy rocker. Removed my perfect 2-speed rocker and it absolutely does not fit. When I'm in the shop later I'll snap a shot of both switces and show you why. If you're going to modify things then, yeah, maybe they fit. Maybe you could modify a switch from a Russian Trabant, who knows, but that wasn't the point !!

It depends on if it came from a rally dash or standard dash with regards to the chrome rocker part of the switch. 2 speed from a non rally won’t fit a rally dash 2 speed. 2 speed rally dash chrome rocker should change over to a 3 speed switch with no issues. The actual switches are completely different between a 2 speed and 3 speed. The 3 speed switch has an extra connection and a ceramic resistor on the back of it.

Well I started sorting through the parts I have
And no place do I have a 3 speed switch laying around
I have two of the 2 speed switches
This is the picture of it in my dash
Yes I know the picture is upside down but so is the dash sitting on the shelf at the moment when I had to lean over to get the photo

Show me picks of your switches.

These are two working 3 (left) and 2 (right) speed switches. Same rocker for both. So I am 100% correct.

So I started digging through my spare parts pile and have a few of the 3 speed motors to choose from
All of them have the crank still on them
The two sitting on the left seem to be the proper ones to use so think they have the right wire harness with them
The last picture is one I stole from a Natcho post and it shows the little tab and what notch it sits in to clock the wiper motor to the proper rest location ( is how I decided which 2 were B body parts )

The housing are not an exact match to the Notcho picture but the wires seem to make sense on the two I saved out of the group and both have the notch pin in the same spot All the others in my group were in a different place

With the parts I have I have enough of the clips to make all the lever arms fit but it seems the wires on my motor are in sad shape so will have to send it out to get fixed up
I have gotten parts from Topher before for my last 70 Charger head light door motor so at this time of the year I hope there will be enough time to send it out and get back by spring Might even send the headlight door motor at the same time
