Finally finished the fuel line from front to back.
I used 1200 deg heat sheild on the line inside the engine compartment.

Figured I'd run the brake line too while I'm under there.

Next is rebuild the drive shaft, install shifter and park cables, speedometer cable and get out from under this car!

Great work Kid, looking good! I just went through the new gas tank thing recently. AFAIK, new filler necks are not made for our 62s... I had my filler neck, filler cap, tank strap, hook bolt etc cadmium plated locally. Looks better, more corrosion resistant and more period correct looking than zinc imo. You could have your filler blasted inside and out, solder up pinholes and then re-plated. I still get a kick from dropping the licence plate when I fill up (until I have to pay the $$ for the fuel). Cad is still popular for plating in aviation industry, though I see that your location is a factor...

PS - Anodising is a treatment for aluminium only.

For what it's worth...on my 64, fairly sure the coating on the filler tube is lead. Acts just like the lead on a engine bearing, that it will harden, and darken, over time. I screwed up on my first, bead-blasting it, to get the inside rust gone. But, blasted the outside, too...it was in good shape, but blasted down to the steel. The extra I had, cleaned right up with steel wool on the lead, came out in good shape.

Wish mine was in good enough shape to do same. Original is lead or terne (80/20 lead/tin ) coated.

Well having a pushbutton trans creates new challenges especially when useing headers.

Cables were in good shape after cleaning them inside and out but wanting a little added insurance, I shrink rapped the cable ends. Then added the heat shield treatment.

Tape a funnel onto the end and used a light oil.

Cleaned up the shifter unit and applied a dry silicone spray to the mechanism.

Installed the assembled unit and routed the cables.

Fabbed up a bracket to keep the shifter cable in place. It's about 3/4" from the header tubes.

Tomorrow I'll get the speedometer cable installed. I soaked it in my parts cleaner for a couple of days and have it cleaned up, ready to go back together.

Soaked the gas tank filler tube that I bought from member Lee Robinson. It turned out a lot better than the one I had. (Thanks Lee!)

I was going to fab up my own torque strap but I lucked out on FleaBay and won this one for $62! Only had to make a 1/2" spacer.

That's it for now, back at it tomorrow!

Got her back on all fours Friday. I'll do the driveshaft and brakes at a later date. Went full circle and I'm back to the engine again!

It was on jack stands since the beginning of March. Man this thing got dirty on top!

Reconditioning valve covers. Did some machine work to accept the pcv valve and block-offs.

Rebuilding the 600's. Only ran on a dyno my ***!

Nice Fab on the shroud. Pricey?? All your detailing looks Showstopper ready. Now, ... as far as using the Kitchen sink for parts cleaning,.....Well ,that just wont fly in my house!! Nice Touch!!

The shroud cost me about what the repros are going for. If I still worked where I use to, I could have made it up myself. The temp never got over the 180* thermostat during the 20 min break-in. Must be working! I might have to go to a 195*

My wife stops in from time to time to 'visit' the P dogs and has made a few comments about some of the changes I've made in the house since she's been gone. My reply is "that's the way I like it" and she doesn't say anymore.
