The Golden Rotisserie Chicken

This is probably one of he most inspiring and educational builds I have followed. SUPER job and I look forward to every update!
 
Almost there guys. I hung the front fenders this week after I modified the rear stud mountings to gain proper gaps. The body man told me , and I think I remember that he test fitted them while doing the bodywork. Any how , they line up as good as they can now. Found out that the replacement radio antenna's are larger than the stock hole size. Anyone else seen this ??? I guess I'll have to make the hole bigger with new paint to deal with , so the escution will fit. Installed the bumper filler and hood latch panel, fender braces. I had previously assembled the front bumper with the brackets,Guards, and lights. I got someone to help me lift it into place , while I adjusted it and tightened up bolts. Fits perfectly. Will try today to get headlight bezels and grille set up. Also wiper squirters and hardware, before I install the hood. The its just a matter of going over the entire car and rechecking things , adding decals' paint marks, small details, etc. This car will definatly be ready before the spring car shows. Hope we get a few nice days / or weeks here on the East Coast before then. Will post more next week when Its all assembled. Thanks for all the support and motivation along the way.

Awesome, we are about even with our builds so I've been following closely. I've got the same issue as you with the fender to front door gaps. What exactly did you do to achieve proper gap with the mounting studs...especially since you've already got paint on.

Eagleone, I had to elongnate the round hole on the rear top of fender in order to get more adjustment. The nut and washer is large enough to cover up the mod. Also elongnated the hole at the top of the front door jamb where the stud from fender attaches. Did this on both sides of car. This gave me plenty of room to make panels line up. I used a carbide cutting bit in an air drill to modify the holes. I'm also going to have to increase the size of the antenna hole, since all replacement antennas are apparently larger in diameter. Scares me a little , but I'm just going to tape up good around the hole and use the carbide bit at a low rpm.

I've told you before, but will say again that you are doing an awesome job. I really like the way the black in the interior contrasts with the gold.

I just finished reading this entire thread and now I'm a little depressed, just like when you finish watching the last current episode of a multi-part serial or mini-series and are still wanting more but you have to wait. Excellent work on your car. This thread has been very motivational for me as you've been showing the progress at each step along the way. It makes a project seem less daunting in the bite size bits. Really appreciate all the posts and I'm looking forward to more and the conclusion ... SUBSCRIBED!

also by the way I love Carters and have found them to be easier to rebuild successfully (they are pretty basic) and they've always performed well for me. I've had good luck with Carters over the years and never had much luck getting a holly to run right after a rebuild, but that's just me.

Myself also, Ive always had great success with them and EDDY carbs, they are pretty simple carbs and seem to more of a easy to get along with friend when it comes to carbs!
 
Well , I guess it's visually done. All parts installed. Now it's a matter of ironing out all of the little issues. Are they really ever done? Drove Wifey on the maiden voyage through the neighborhood on Saturday. First time we've been together on a ride in a 68 RR since her and I were in High School in 1972. I knew , after all the cash I spent , she had to get the first ride !!! LOL. I guess I'd better get the vintage tags registered pretty quick , so I don't get myself in hot water. Need to get the front end aligned this week also. The small issues i have are a leaking from the rear of the master cylinder. ( good thing I used silicone fluid , as not to eat paint ). I've got a kit around here somewhere , to repair it with. Was rebuilt though, but did sit around for a while. I wouldn't think the silicone fluid was too thin or slippery for the system. Any thoughts on that? Also could use some input on this... No power steering action with rebuilt pump and stock gearbox installed. Haven't looked at it yet, but I suspect the original pressure hose could be collapsed or a bypass valve somewhere stuck open. Anyone with experience here on that? Other than that , an inop washer pump and a bad ground somewhere on a brake light. Everything else works fine. Kind of amazing!!. I'd like to thank everyone who helped out along the way with advise and encouragement. It's great to have a group like this that helps out like you do. No better Forum anywhere.
