The Golden Rotisserie Chicken

Always a pleasure visiting this thread Chicken....It's great to see the pride you take in your work and things getting done right.

Yesterday was the day!!She's Been waiting along time for a heart transplant.Started out on Sunday by cleaning up the operating room and organizing parts and bolts. Motor slid in easily without issue. I used a 2x4 across the torsion bars to take the weight of the engine at the rear. Put a couple of long grade 8 bolts through the lower bellhousing holes to catch the wood. Installed a new Mc Leod clutch on the original, resurfaced flywheel , bellhousing, and clutch cross shaft with new seals and bushings, all from below , while on lift. The thick paint at the bellhousing hole gave me a little trouble getting the transmission to mate the housing. Should have thought of that earlier. LOL. Got crossmember installed , and driveshaft. Filled Trans and Diff with gear oil. Will install a few minor parts from below this morning before I move it back to the upper bay. Will need the lift tomorrow for another job. hopefully will get rest of under hood stuff done in the next week or so I can hang the front sheetmetal on the car.

Motor looks good sitting in there.I still love the color of your car.

First off excellent job on your car my hat goes off to you. I know it has been awhile but do you remember the color you used for suspension parts

Hey Ken, For sure I'll be there , but obviously without the RR. Are you bringing both cars ??

Planning on taking both the 67 and the Challenger down. Got my son driving the Challenger. See you down there, supposed to be another great day weather wise.

This is one fantastic project. I am thrilled to see this complete project coming to an eventual end. :eusa_drool:

You do need a drooling towel on this one, i cant wait to see it all back together. Hopefully Ken, next year this bird can be there and i envy you getting to see it up that close, truly a beautiful 68.

Hey Ahmincha, All of the suspension parts are powdercoated , using Eastwood products . Either gloss black or cast grey. I even disassembled the leaf springs and powdercoated them.

Yes I read your entire thread. I was going to paint mine till I saw your thread and of coarse changed my mine thank you very much Lol. Sounds like you powder coated them your self

I powder coated anything that would fit in my modified kitchen oven. Longer items went to a guy I know who does it professionally

What did you have to modify sorry for all the ? Also on another forum I am on someone brought up a point that powder coating promotes rust by holding in moister if the seal gets broken like where you might have to ream out a hole for a bolt to fit any thoughts on this theory

Someone gave me a working kitchen oven , so I removed the electric burners from the top of it and installed a plywood top on it. Then I drilled the chassis in the bottom rear and installed an axle with lawnmower tires. i can tilt it and wheel it around outside if I want to since it can get pretty stinky when powdercoating. I added a 15 ft 220vt power cord on it for the same reason. I think I have around $30 in the whole rig. I have a 220vt outlet near the overhead door , so I can plug in either my Easy Bake Oven or my welder. As far as holding moister, I cant' see how its any different from painting an item. I like the fact that powdercoat is a tougher surface

Firstoff , sorry for the poor pics. Must be sumpin wrong with the camera. Been too busy lately to work on the car, but I did rebuild the original shifter this week and installed the left exhaust manifold. Gonna try a get the rest of the under hood stuff installed this week. I will post pics as that goes.
