Thanks. That looks awesome ( your whole restoration). You are real lucky those back seams line up top and bottom up. Like you said after that long time. I put mine on right away so i would not get a crease in the material. Hopefully it will all work out. Whats another two weeks after being apart 12 years. I will let everyone know how i make out
 
just read thru your thread and i gotta say that is one of the nicesrt color i have ever seen on a RR.
 
Working on getting the front door panels in and front seats this week. Next week Im going to tear down the 383. should be interesting. Asfar as I can tell, its never been apart before.
 
Stuffed Chicken

Well , The Golden Rotisserie Chicken is finally stuffed. Got the rest of the door panels on , front seat in with restored seatbelts . Armrests are in along with window cranks. Just waiting for the door sill plates to come back from the plating co. Notice that the rear armrests are gold ,and the fronts are black. I really believe this car came like that from Lynch Rd. Car only had 134k on it , and I know that im the first one to tear this car down. Probably one of those mix and match deals , where they ran out of gold, or just wernt paying attention. Next I am tearing down the numbers 383 engine. Notice in the pics , it still has a Mopar water pump and coil. Also has the original heater hose clamps and spark plug heat shields and wire looms. This will be like an archeoligy project as I get into it. Im Excited. I'll start on it first of next week. I'll post pics of what I find.

Nice, really love how good the black sets off the interior.. Beautiful car!
 
Can not believe how clean the inside of this motor is. I was begining to think it might only have 36k on it, untill I pulled the heads and did find about a .005 ridge in it. One cylinder had been exposed to water or got water through the intake valve from the intake with no carb. Might have a little trouble getting that slug out but I think I'll have to bore it .020 over anyhow. It still had Mopar steel shim head gaskets on it. Just unbelievable how blessed I am to find it in this unmolested condition. Will post more pics of the innards when I get there.

Kudos to the nice work done, First to the nice find of an almost rust free car and second to the attention to detail you are performing.

One question, is this all being done in 7-8 months?
 
Thats amazing to see the engine that clean, cool.. I just power washed a SB i bought last summer and took one valve cover off to check it, Its so bad id be ashamed to even take a picture to show anyone.. Better mine then an original one for your 68, thats for sure! Hope the rest of it is as good and the chances sure look good for you.. Good luck, thats a real plus there.
 
Here is a few more pisc of engine disassembly. Soaking down the pistons and cyl walls for a few days ,to make it easier.Still had a Mopar oil pump on it!!!

Finally got the pistons and crankshaft out of block. I had 3 pistons seized from sitting too long. A peice of pipe and a sledge hammer work wonders. LOL. Took it all to my machinist on Friday. He says it all looks good . I think we will be able to just polish the crank and use standard bearings. In order to get the correct compression ratio however I will have to punch it 030 over and use forged pistons. The cast pistons are available at 020 , but thier compression height is too short for me. Also , will put hardened valve seats and new stainless valves in the original 906 heads. Should get machine work back next week.Maybe?

Yup, Ken , and thanks again for the engine paint. Painted a cookie sheet with it , and then took it to my paint supplier to be scanned. Got a good match up , and will be using single stage urathane on the motor. I think it will last much longer. Still waiting to hear back from the machinist. Hello!!!
