Funny. I'm actually getting ready to do something very similar, but I'm using an "add a circuit" fuse holder.
The 5A dash light fuse keeps popping in my 73, and glass fuses around here only come one in a five pack assortment for $9.

The add a circuit and a 20 pack of modern fuses was $12.
