The Roach

Being that this is an original paint car, there’s no bondo or multiple paint layers to deal with.
There always seem to be some hidden issues that are found when the paint comes off!

No nasty new discoveries yet?

The only rust surprises were under the vinyl roof and passenger side footwell.

The Dutchman panel needs to be replaced which leaked into the trunk floor and you can guess what it did to the center of that.

It is on the whole a very nice clean shell. It must be nice to start with something so clean.

Way to go, Marcus!
Did I read that you're going with a TKO or TKX Tremec 5 speed?

That's getting it done. Years ago when I bought the 70 Challenger R/T off of Jack,it had about nine layers of paint with primer between the coats, metal was good, but the car was about a half inch narrower after all the paint was removed. It took about a week to strip it by hand with a DA sander!

Submit bringing your out meals???
Who do you think is really doing the sanding,he is in his lounge chair sipping Long Island ICE tea'and pointing out any spots she may have missed! He delegates, once a boss, always a boss!

Maybe goes to Home Depot parking lot for workers?

That car has good bones! The QA1 stuff is cool too, all of the QA1 bits I put on the GTX last winter seemed to be well made…

Being original paint, there were no surprises visible ..... well, until I took out the trunk mat, carpeting, rear window and vinyl roof.

Is that car getting a Tremec transmission?

TKX 5 speed.

No, she barely allowed me back in the house after I blew myself off.

Okay, I thought so.
I ask because I'm helping with a Tremec TKX swap into a 69 Coronet and wondered if the shifter hump is much different than my car needed with the TKO. SST claims the TKX fits without much trimming.

Are you related to John Holmes?

If you scroll back a few pages, you can see how much trimming I did. Pete told me that if you cut the floor to install a 4-speed hump, hardly any trimming is involved.
