The Roadrunner has risen from the dead.

Chris....keep us posted...thanks for ur 1st outing report
Mike we out yesterday again flat performance. I only made a single pass using launch with foot brake. I developed an oild leak on my caaumlator fitting so that was it for me for the day. I think it needs more timing. its set at 30 but seems flat. Whats yours set at? my 440 seemed to have more pep.

Well I went out to Sonoma Raceway and made a couple of passes to see how this car would perform. I had fixed the throttle and the minor oil leak. I did not use the trans brake and I had a high limit chip at 6800. I did not try to catch a light I just wanted to see how it would run. Here are the results of my first run. Note the second run was after the track was cleaned up due to someones oil leak and I felt it was a bit loose so I did not stay in the 2nd round to the end. Here is my time slip. I hit my 6800 limiter early. I need to make a gear change now 4:10 will be needed from 4:56 Anyway getting there.

I always hate the sorting-out period. Glad it's making noise and covering ground.......

You have a 9 second car and have now joined a pretty EXCLUSIVE segment of B-Body Racers.
Congrats.
Thanks Mike your not far from that yourself. I know it will go much deeper but, the question is do I want to. I race alone so it's not all that easy at the track to literally bolt yourself in the car.

Yup, same situation. The faster you go, and older you get....the tougher it is.

I don't think I want to run 9's again. I'll be more than happy somewhere in the 10's.!!!

Oh so true. I think 10.0 or near there is just fine. it's just less work. I do this for fun. Never made a dime like most hobbies but, it certainly makes me grin. It was good to be back at the track yesterday.

Looks like your're right there at the 10.0 's . Not much tinkering puts you well into the 9's.

Test run off idle and hitting the rev limiter 0f 6800 way early.

The 4.10's will get you right here you want to be. Those 4.56's are killing your ET & MPH for sure.
My 63 Plymouth picked up .3 and 4 mph with 4.10's over the 4.56's.
Good luck!

Not a sales pitch but anyone in the know, uses a A/F datalogger to get the optimum HP from their tuneup.
I turned on a few racer friends with dataloggers and all have picked up significantly. All of my cars have them and it wouldn't be going as fast or consistent without one.

I totally agree. My buddy has a fast data logger. We used it on my 440 to dial the jets in. I currently have a plx unit but it does not log

Where you need it most is at the 7 second mark to the stripe to get optimal O2 readings at WOT! I went from a 8.84 off the trailer to 8.57 by the end of the day changing A/F and jets

Very good info thanks

Maybe its my eyes but it doesn't look like the tach ever even hit 6800,maybe 6500

hard to say exactly and also hard to say how accurate that chip is as well. I am moving it up to 7200 and shift at 6700 I will know more then. A lot of guys don't even use the rev limiter chip because of that reason.
