The superbird that never was.

Thats surprising.....the 71 certainly "looked" like a smoother airflow car. But on a street car aero is more important than downforce I guess....not so on the track!!!

Post 12 the Plymouth has a Daytona soured nose.

Post 13 the Dodge has a Super Bird nose.

The Daytona nosed definitely fit the 71 front sheet metal better.

The MPC model has a completely new nose design.

The 68 - 70 B Body windshield to side glass transition is much better than the 71 and later cars.
The 69 500 rear glass is much better than the 71-74 b body. The 75 B body was terrible!

The 71 Charger had a similar rear window configuration as the 71 Torino which created the same aerodynamic problems. Even grafting a sloped nose onto the Torino (to create the King Cobra) couldn't overcome the rear window problem and the same held true for the Charger and Road Runner.

Did you know that the square wheel opening on the square body Chevy trucks were used for aerodynamics. they were more efficient.

Never heard that!
Where did you read about it?

The .29 drag coefficient number for the 69 Daytona was taken from DC-93 in the Lockheed Wind Tunnel.
