This bastage stole half my salmon sandwich...

My grandfather would eat raw hamburger sandwiches just salt and pepper. It looked nasty but I ate a bite, it was actually tasty!

raw clams is another one...... I ate them when I was a kid, cause the old guys were doing it; not sure I could now

Closest thing we have down here to a hot salmon sandwich is a tuna melt.
It had tuna with mayo, tomato slice and Swiss cheese on toasted bread.
So it's "bastage" now ?

He is a cute little guy though

I miss having salmon cakes (wife doesn't "do" fish). Think I need to change that now though.
Sure, I've been known to eat onion like an apple - a good sweet one is wonderful.
Sad to say, the quality of the food these days makes it a no-no for raw burger or such; that'll
get you some kind of ill anymore.
Quality of the food supply isn't what it used to be.

your damn right old bastards were tough, my old man use to brush his teeth with baking soda! I tried once and the results were getting the floor whiter after having to wash it!
spanish onion and cheese sandwich was a go to for most of my relatives after the rye was near empty!

can I add Mercurochrome and Merthiolate to the tough old bastard list?

it's not food, but it is tough

You guys got me laughing remembering my grandpa, Breakfast was whatever left overs were in the ( ice box ) and boil some butter nut coffee in a pan.

The old folks wasted nothing.. When we butcher we always joke how they used use everything but the squeal.

15 grain bread, mayo and wild salmon filet...

Chuck (snook)
Sounds great
I love fish, especially salmon & in a sandwich it'd be great (or a soft taco)
some nice French bread
or maybe a rye
or better yet toasted sourdough bread
lil' tatar sauce & honey mustard
lil' iceberg lettuce or romaine
maybe a couple slices of pickle, bread & butter slices
for a spicey version, add some red onion slices

when I lived in Alaska I really acquired the taste for salmon
I've always loved fish

good for ya' too, as long as it's not in an area
where they have a bunch of mercury content,
like some of the older areas near runoffs (civilization)
where they've spawned for decades on end

people don't know what they are missing
