This took the wind out of my sales today

Just as a quick reference. The distance from the back of the block to the face of the flexplate, should be about the same as the depth of the convertor lugs in the bell housing face. Big difference between the first step and second, when installing.

Anytime you bolt a tranny up and it doesn't freely mate to the motor without force (pulling it in with the bolts) it's time to double check the converter engagement. Hope it's something simple but as others have said it's 3 steps to getting it all the way seated, the last being the hardest because instead of splines your lining up 2 cogs (basically like a flat screwdriver).

When you unbolt the 'verter to remove the trans,after the 4 bolts are removed,slide the vert back into the trans.If it goes in at least 1/2 inch you will know it was in right.If it is tight and won't move back then we know it wasn't and you damaged the pump.I also have the upgraded pump gears,called Max lug.

275 bucks for a billet pump. I am going to put in other new parts as well as I don't want to go through doing that again anytime soon. Going to inspect everything replace anything in question. I just put in a new billet input shaft in last year so that's still good. I felt like a floor mop for a couple days. I'm glad its out and resolved to say the least. I took a lot of things apart that I had just put back on the car with this latest build. Fortunately I had a good memory of the process. A year later it would be more difficult. and a year older.

Those are always good lessons. You really need a lift and four hands at times.

You might fab yourself something or use some clamp to hold the TC in once seated so it can't slip out on ya' when reinstalling.

Never a bad idea. The stock drive has a lot of clearance issues to begin with. The billet drive has much wider taps nearly the full with ot the converters slots. I learned something new with this. Seems when my motor lost a rod somewhere around 120 so went these tabs.
