Timing problem

Really, The distributor felt ok when I seated it in the slot with the intermediate shaft out. But then I did have t bottomed out in the slot.

I did note the burring on the top of the slot but thought it might be ok. Hard to know when you’ve no point of reference. Don’t see many of them this side of pond and have nothing else available to compare to. Thank godnfor FBBO.

Are all the intermediate shafts for the 383 the same? Is there a recommended brand or supplier for these.

Yeah, pretty sure the BB intermediate shafts are the same.

Yeah, the wear in that slot is what was making your initial timing erratic, too much slop. A supplier...to be honest, you'd be as well off, if possible, to find a good used one. Those shafts rarely get worn, nothing like that one. Good luck!
