I found a few articles online about using toluene as an additive to pump gas to boost octane. Anyone using this on a 60s vintage v8? I have a pretty stock 68 318 that is in good shape but pings. I have the timing rolled WAY back but i still get pinging under load so i'm looking for options....

Maybe try fattening up the fuel air mixture. Dont think a stock 318 should ping with the timing rolled back.Maybe you have carbon build up.

Tolulene,is wicked! It can be absorbed thru your skin, will cause serious problems!Just use octane booster.

yeah, I have been reading that it is much cheaper, and more importantly much more effective, than octane boosters from the stores are
