I just bought some tranny parts from a guy here in town, and he gave me a couple of torque convertors. One of them is off a 1969 Road Runner, but about a dozen of the teeth on the gear are either broken or ground down by a starter. It's been working, but if much more wear occurs i think it'll quit mating up with a starter.

So I was wondering if there's a way for a welder to build those teeth back up, or does the convertor need to be scrapped?

Welding up the teeth will end up as a disaster plus it won't last. You will need a new ring gear. But for the price of a ring gear replacement would it be better to just get a brand new $350.00 TCI? I have the street fighter behind my 440 and it works great as far as I can tell. I'm just thinking that a used converter with no real known history is too much of a gamble. At minimum I'd swap it for a stock rebuild.
