Anyone that uses a purchased torque strap, does it provide any dampening for vibration? Or, did it introduce any vibration?

I had a set of poly locks from Schumacher but they allowed way too much vibration from the engine into the entire car. Switched over to cheap stock rubbers and the vibration is gone. However with 550ftlbs of torque I doubt they will last long.

The torque straps I’m finding online look like a tube connected to the k frame with poly bushings. I’m willing to bet those bushings would reinstroduce my vibration if I used them.

Since I know you will ask, yes the vibration was bad enough to warrant this switch.

69 Coronet, 440 with power steering.

The straps are not really in play unless the mount is stressed. So at idle it doesn't do much and there shouldn't be any real dampening by them. It's not meant to be "pulling" on the engine unless the engine is "pulling back" if that makes sense.

Understood, I’m just worried about the vibration from the engine. Dampening the vibration, I should have been more clear.

I haven't removed mine to see if it makes a difference. It has to be better than locks or solids. But I'm not driving a 2016 300M either.

The factory mounts do have a reputation, especially aftermarket ones. I happened apon some NOS (made in the USA) but I wanted the extra insurance so I bought a Schumacher strap. I wouldn't want to be without one.

This one is for a "E" body. I don't have power steering and didn't like the crooked bracket that they went to for power steering. Had to make a bushing and find a longer mount bolt. (1962 Dodge)

I too was worried about the stout mounts transferring vibration so I used regular rubber motor mounts with a torque strap and don't notice any added vibration. I did make my own strap but it's virtually identical to the ones they sell, I used sway bar bushings where it mounts to the K member so it's not solid and I believe they do the same?

I’ve got the Schumacher strap also for my Dart, and it does what it’s supposed to do when you get on it. It keeps the engine from rocking to pass. side. That’s all they do.

On my Polara, Schumacher poly mounts were used on the engine and trans, a glass of water wouldn’t even ripple at idle.

Are you sure you are not producing vibration from another source, balancer- flexplate-clutch?

I went the same route as 747 and don’t have any excess vibration. Use a Schumacher torque strap and stock rubber mounts.

A torque strap won't do anything for vibration! Find the source for it.
All a strap does is limit the amount of torque 'roll', reducing stress on the mounts.

The majority will install the Schumacher torque tubes tight with engine not running. I'm guilty as well. This did cause some vibration in my particular set up. I eliminated much of this by adjusting the tube with the engine idling. When the tube can be turned by hand, any preloading(vibration) is eliminating until the engine is reved.

I’m also using stock rubber mounts with a homemade torque strap. The photos show some poly bushings, but now have rubber shock bushings.

There is no more vibration, but I’d say you can feel the car moving a bit more on the suspension from reving the engine, of that makes sense.

I'm pretty sure the PO meant "will adding a torque strap add any additional vibration not will they take care of it"?

I have the same one that kryslerkid has but for my 71 RR with power steering. I also installed "Mighty Mount" brand of engine mounts as well.
