Transmission and converter install - 2 questions

Ok
The converter snub is slightly tapered in the front
Front of conberter snub/button 1.66
Rear of conberter snub/button is 1.80
Crank opening 1.35
I measure the opening if I remove the pilot bushing and it appears to measure 1.80

Pull the flex plate off. Measure the torque converter snub(button) whatever you want to call it. Measure the crank hole. You should have a few thousandths difference (.00?). If you see a collar in the crank, that will need to come out. You can tack weld a 1 inch nut and use a corresponding bolt and tighten it, it will take the factory bushing out.

Unfortunatly im not a welder and have not the supplies or the skills to do this. :(

That inner ring has to come out.

That inner ring has to come out.
I picked up another tool today from autozone that really gets behind the ring. Unfortunately that ring is in there really tight. The slide hammer didn't nice it a mm after 10 min. Going to get back at it tomorrow. The k you for your input!

Heck yeah guys...i did it. Praise God!
I used the tool from Autozone called a blind hole puller. It's much better in my opinion than the pilot bushing puller from oreillys.
Anyhow I rented both and swapped the 5lb slide hammer over to the blind hole puller because it came with a 3lb slide hammer.
Also I suggest you slide the hammer when your body is halfway out from under the car. Being directly under the car you can't really get enough force on the slide hammer. I tried it that way for 30 minutes and it didn't move a mm. I changed positions and the pilot bushing moved within the first 3 whacks.
Trans is hooked up now. I just need to tighten the trans to engine bolts and then hoom up the converter to the flexplate.
