I just purchased a Pioneer 751049 trans kit for a 727 trans from O"Riley's ($99.00). The same part # from Summit ($343.97), Rock Auto ($349.79). It only has steel and rubber sealing rings, fiber discs, front and rear seal, and pan gasket.
IT DOES NOT HAVE steel disc, bushings, bands, or even a filter.
All of them show a generic picture of, I believe, a GM trans kit, so it is impossible to know what you are getting.

I'm having a hard time deciphering what happened but it seems you bought a kit for 99 bucks and expected it to be the same kit that other retailers are selling for 350 bucks?

The main things that wear out are the sealing rings, o rings, fiber discs, and gaskets. I have re used the steel discs if they weren't burnt, the bushings can be purchased separately if needed, as well as the bands. The pan seal and filter come in a separate kit. The complete kit from Summit probably contains the bands and discs, at that price. Call them to confirm this.

I don't think anyone sells steels&bushings for $99. Otherwise halfways normal price( it ain't 1970 anymore,lol)

I once went looking for a 'hemi' frt.clutch drum(5-disc) and got it for free from the scrap pile at a trans shop.

This sounds like a personal problem. O'Reillys website or even asking the counter person would have solved the problem.
I buy all my trans parts directly from a trans supply. You got .the base repair kit at a decent price. Quite complaining.

Check out midwesttransmissionsupply.com.

I suppose I didn't get my point across... What I was trying to point out is Summit, Rock Auto and probably others are selling a $99 transmission kit for $340+. Just trying to warn others about it.
To Mopar 3 B ... Quite: to be silent... Quit: to stop. To Hanover Mopar... I did not expect a free lunch

The oreillys version is the "banner kit" which does not supply any of the steel pieces, it's simply a seal kit. Rock auto and summit are the actual rebuild kit supplying all the parts not just seals

it clearly states in the descriptions that from oreillys you are getting a seal kit, and summit you are getting a rebuild kit.

Yup.. Never look at the pictures. There are all levels of kits available. I've gotten my base rebuild stuff from Bulkpart.com for years but you have to know what you need, and make sure the kit you're looking at includes what you want. Most places will list what it comes with you just have to look close.

I looked up the pioneer brand super rebuild kit from O'Reilly is $121 my price. It includes filter, bands, bushings and steels also. About what I would expect the price to be.
I remember bringing my transmission in to a shop to be rebuilt back in '85. It cost $120 parts and labor. In '87 I bought a TCI kit for $150 and had a Chrysler tech rebuild another trans I had after hours for $50. Those were the days.

To a trans tech now a 3-speed TF is an antique with all the 4,5,6+ speeds coming out.
