Wondering if any of you ever seen this!

the 727 trans did something weird today, I was pushing the car outside with the car in neutral, I pushed it forward no problems, then tried to push the car backwards and it wouldn't move , at all!!!!. We had to remove the driveshaft and it was fine after that, any idea what the hell its from?

The driveshaft is not the direct replacement, but does slide in fine and bolts up fine, anything you can suggest I check?

72 Satellite 383 , transplant, trying to get it rollin......

nope, not changing gears, just roll it forward and it rolls, roll it backward, it doesnt roll

If you jack up car and spin wheels do they lock up Take drums off and try to turn axle shaft. If it locks up it is in the rear axle

Like I said in my first post, I removed the driveshaft and it rolled back and forward fine

Did you try pushing it forwards again after it would not go backwards? Only thing on the back side of a 727 that would keep it from turning would be the park paw, damaged rear planetary gear set or just many be but a long shot something in the overrunning clutch not releasing.

Yup, after it wouldnt go backwards I tried to push it forward and away it went....real easy pushing it forward , but wont move backward at all, so weird.....

If It has been rebuilt, sounds like somebody put he sprag springs on the wrong side of the rollers

well just for follow up, we tore the tranny apart and short of pulling it in half with the frame machine, the input shaft would not come out of it, jammed in and ended up rebuilding a cre I got for $75 bucks, if you need parts let me know, as long as they are not behind the input shaft
