She was in great hands at UCLA! Tri atresia with a fontan baffle and 25 years of use, WOW!

Your daughter will do well with her current operation! No Doubt!

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers!!

Our thoughts, prayers and best wishes are for your daughter and the team that will get her back on the positive side of life. Family is the dearest thing any of us have and the thought of any of our children in distress brings life back into true focus.

( never underestimate the power of prayer ) . . .

That's what makes this forum the BEST forum on the Web ! !

WOW . . . never thought that someone would know the Fontan procedure - that's exactly what she had done 25 years ago. And the procedure was performed by Dr. Hillel Laks - he was the most renown surgeon for this procedure at the time.

A little story from 25 years ago:
My not quite 3 year old daughter has Open Heart surgery, spends 2 days in ICU, and then gets moved out of ICU to a hospital room. The nurses inform her that there is a "play room" down the hall, that open at 3:00, and she can go down there to paint, play, and use all the toys that they have down there. So that begins the "Dad, is it 3:00 yet" . . . barrage of questions . . . LMAO. So 3:00 finally arrives, and my daughter want to go to the play room - so I ask her if she would like me to carry her . . . her response - "No, I want to walk" ( she make it half way down the hall then asked to be carried ) - 2 days out of ICU and she wanted to WALK to the play room. For the record, the following day, she walked all the way to the play room and back !

She had surgery, spent 5 days in the hospital, and flew back home at the end of the week . . . my girl is a trooper !

( Not only that, she's a commercial parts manager at one of the local car parts places here in town - chip off the ole block )

all will go well on wednesday, and your girl will recover quickly and completely, and soon make you a granddaddy!

Prayers for your Daughter for a successful surgery, quick recovery, and a happily ever after story filled with kids, laughter, and a Grandpa that will spoil the grandkids rotten. Prayers also for the medical team that will take care of her, may God guide their hands and hearts.

All of you are in our Prayers.

your daughter, yourself and the rest of your family will get a prayer tonight. you are right about what modern medicine can do today, i know first hand.

The day has arrived . . .

It's almost 4AM . . . as I prepare to make the 2 hour drive from Concord NC to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill . . . plan to be out the door by 4:30, to be at the hospital by 6:30 - the time that my daughter will be arriving to start her check-in and pre-op procedures . . .

Check-in and pre-op 6:30 - 8:30 . . .
Wheeled off to the operating room - 8:30 . . .
Surgery to begin about 9:00 . . .

Then . . . 4-8 hours of surgery, waiting, and yet another . . . longest day of my life . . . waiting to hear word . . .

May God be with the entire operating Team, so they'll be on their A-game, cutting true, precision, perfect movements, stitching precise . . . to hep fix my baby . . . ( again ) . . .

Last time, when she was almost 3, and she awoke her first words were "Where's my daddy" - although she now has a husband, I think she will once again ask the same thing - "Where's my daddy" . . . followed by Where's my husband . . . and I'll be there for her ( as many times as she needs me there )

I'll update sometime between 1 - 5 PM when I get word . . .

Thanks to everyone at FBBO for your kind support, PMs, texts, and friendship . . .
