So yesterday I was out driving the new Challenger around for one of the very few times I have had the opportunity since buying it.

I went to a drive-thru for lunch. When I got to the order remote box this female voice comes over and says, "Oh my God I love your car, can I take your order?" I said thank you and placed my order.

When I get to the window I about fell over dead. There stood a 18 yr old African-American girl who was freaking out. Her 1st comment was Purple was her favorite color. So I figured OK, she's a typical girl that age only interested in colors. She then went on to ask, I see that has the 392 in it how does it run? I said good, thank you. I must have been looking at her like she had three heads when she said, "Oh my dad loves these cars. Loves the old ones too. That's why I love them and how I know so much about them. Cuda's are actually my favorite!" I'm like, well your dad sounds pretty cool and Cuda's are my favorite e-body too. Told her about my 70 Roadrunner and her eyes got as big as saucers. So we talked a little more about old Mopar's until another customer pulled up. She really knew her stuff. Her dad must have really taught her well.

So as I am getting ready to leave she tells me anytime you drive one of those cars to the drive-thru and I am working I will give you a free drink because she very rarely actually gets to see any up close.

I have owned Mopar muscle my whole life and never have I met a young African-American woman who had any interest in them at all much less was like an encyclopedia on the subject. Freeeaaaky!

That is truly wondeerful story Brian, it just goes to show "us" this Generation is not totally lost!
As a testament to Mr. Bill O'Rielly's biggest concern in todays youth, it is evident she comes from a caring and loving family who teaches their children respect. I'll bet she cvomes from a 2 parent family, Mother and Father.

Sonny likes these kind of stories!........lets pray the rest of the kids grow up like us...
'er most of us....

You should meet my daughter. When she's home(on active duty US Army) and we hit car shows, I just sit back and let her field all the questions. She blows the guys minds and she's real easy to look at just like her Mom. :)

Yea, most of our kids are good, but it's awesome to experience that sort of enthusiasm from young strangers.

Had a similar experience when I started driving the 66 Charger to work in late December.
I noticed our 19 y/o front desk supervisor freaking out when I pulled into the roundabout to show the bell service staff. She looked like she was about to explode. I went inside and asked if she wanted a ride, to which she emphatically squealed "hell yes".
She had a smile almost as big as mine when I first drove it a few days prior. She was freaking about the entire time, talking about how she had grown up w/classics, that her dad had even imported one with the family to Germany where she grew up as a small child.
About half way out, I pulled over and asked if she wanted to drive (don't tell MrsSnowtrooper, she has not even driven it yet ;-), and she gladly accepted.
When we pulled back into the hotel drive and she got out of the driver's seat, the staff just about fell over. They all came up like it was their turn......
Not a chance, boys. Nowhere near her enthusiasm and not half as cute.
She said the next day that was her best Christmas present!

My youngest (25) is into cars too but last year we went to look at a 68 Cuda Fastback and the guy kept looking to me for questions instead of answering hers and that really pissed her off. I even told the guy that she was the one looking to buy and not me. After a few more minutes of that crap, she looked at me and said "let's get out of here...." lol Not sure if he still has it or not but I told her not to worry about it because everything happens for a reason and that car wasn't meant to be for her.

Great story Brian! Tell her that she gets a big thumbs up from the rest of us.

About a year ago I'm in my green Belvedere stopped at a red light and I hear this female voice say something. Didn't pay attention at first until I hear it again saying ......66 Belvedere. I turn around and see some gal driving with some guy, and she is yelling over him (as he's sinking in the seat) "Is that a 66 Belvedere?" Totally shocked I say yes. She yells again "I love those cars!!" I give her the thumbs up. Then she says "do you know what my all time favorite car is?" Throw my hands in the air gesturing "who knows". She replies "A 68 Road Runner". With my eyes popping out of my head I reply loudly "I have one!...And a 69 RR too!!". She screams like she was having an orgasm in the front seat and yells (this time traffic is moving).. "Are you married!!?" And off she went.

Good story Brian. It's funny how some kids will walk by a beautiful old classic and it's like it's not even there. It's like they were walking by another Toyota Camry or something. Not a clue. Every once in awhile a young kid will see my old Belvedere and just go nuts like they've never seen one before (maybe they haven't). It's kinda cool.

A few years ago I was washing my 67' GTX in the driveway, when a lady driving a minivan with a couple kids ,and her husband in the passenger seat pulled up next to my car. She was all smiles! She said, oh! a 67' GTX! I sure had a lot of fun in,,,,and her husband turned cold evil. She said, oh,never mind! she kept smiling though, as she drove off. I can only Imagine what she was remembering!

I do that w/ most 67 Chevelles, 1st gen Camaros, and early Mustangs. Unless over the top unique, if you've seen one, you've seen 'em all.

Great stories from all of you guys....that is part of the fun with these cars. Seeing all the smiles from other people just makes it better.

70rr-brian Great to see the female persuasion of our youth {regardless of any ethnicity} aren't all stuffing their heads in the sand & some actually do pay some attention to what dad does, what dads love & what we all like... All my girls could talk some serious car smack at the track & in car circles at school, when they were teens, the HS boys & were always shocked, about how much more "my girls knew, then they did"... When they would bring the boys home, they would drool all over my toys & 99% of the time, they would say something like "know wonder they know so much about cars"...
