Waking up the beast

Not a bad day. Finished first loser. Here's a gopro of the final. I think the winner paid off the officials.

LOL... that's SSR in the other lane... I saw a 12.38 on the window going faster each time... like he said, converter baby, she'll be in the 11's... runner up ?

Is that a cast crank converter? I see an awful large balance plate welded to it....

I was thinking the same thing... Not sure if it for a cast crank, but looks like a big piece of metal welded on there or allot of weight looks like added on that converter... maybe it was just to balance the converter & starter ring itself...

I never owned a cast crank motor so NO.
transking 10" came out of my 446 eagle crank ,eagle rods motor, went 11.08 from a 11.74 from just this converter swap.

Whats so funny Budnicks?.lol

I just found it funny... Figures he has to race you, in the finals, I just thought it was funny/apropos, he get like a 4 second handicap head start & SSR/Blue Dodge ran him down & dumped him at the end too... if you have a 12.38 dial in, running a much faster guy/car, you better be able to run the # that your dialed in at, in a bracket race, especially racing a much faster car...

I would think the moped would have won. It doesn't matter how many days it takes you to get there, as long as you do it the same every time. It still is a race though.

In HS, that reminds me, I won a bracket race in my Pops 74 Pinto {IIRC} Sacramento raceway, Wed. Night Grudge races, my car wasn't ready & we wanted to go down to Sac., It was running something like a 22.00 @ like 77mph {IIRC} with-in a hundredth or so, every-pass, my friends were giving me crap {drinking a coke & spitting chew out the open window} while shifting a manual/4 speed, leave off idle, floor it at the light stand, shift at 5000 rpm, foot on the floor, never lift, I beat a mid 10 second 67-68 Camaro in the finals, he had horrible lights, mine were consistant .50's on a .4 tenths tree {OK for that POS}, most the cars were 14-15 sec. muscle cars, most all HS kids too, except the much faster Camaro in the finals... I had to hide the trophy from Pops when I got home, but my younger bros. slipped, while talking about the races & kind of ratted me out a few weeks later... you gotta' run the #.... OK back on subject

I forgot to mention the start of my day on Saturday. When I got to the track, I noticed my water temp starting to rise. Waiting on line at the gate,it kept climbing. The electric fan wasn't keeping up. I paid to get in and shut it down and coasted into the pit area. Just as I started to turn to park, it boiled over. I left about a 50 foot trail of water to where I was parked. The thermostat failed shut. took it out but tore the gasket. I decided to put it back together with the torn gasket and it held. Lucky me. Learned a lesson though. More tools and more supplies.

Thanks for the help.

You'll like the Firecore distributor, installed one last summer. Quick and easy adjustments on the mechanical advance. I run mine with the vac advance plugged.
