Sometimes you overlook the obvious.
I checked through everything when I got the car in the fall. It even ran well the one pass that I made.
Went to the track on Saturday and the car seemed to be idling a bit rough.
The carb wasn't spraying too well so i cleaned it out a little before running it.
Made my first pass and the car just wouldn't go. i ran 14.0 @68 mph. I lifted
Back in the pits, carb still seemed to have a bit of dirt somewhere. cleaned out again and made another pass.
13.20@ 99 I think it was.
Loaded up on the trailer and watched a couple rounds and left.
Sunday morning I decided to dig.
You can see some of what I found.
I rebuilt the carb and took apart the dizzy.
The reluctor is rusty.
The pickup assembly the same.
look at the cap....
I saw that and decided to pull the wires off. I ohm'd the wires and was only able to get a reading on 2 of them and the coil wire. NO reading or continuity on all the other wires.
Look at the cap again.
The only wires that were reading were coil, "2 and "3.
coincides with terminals on the cap.
I was originally blaming the converter, but I see things a bit differently now.
I ordered a new cap, wires, rotor, reluctor and pickup. should be here in a couple days.
Im also sending the original converter out for repair.
