So my girlfriend comes home last night and tells me she was looking for things on Kijiji (another site like Craigslist) and she knows I have a thing for watches so she had to show me this ad.

Title was Bought this watch for my boyfriend he had to go so watch has to go

to sum it up she was advertising a "Swiss Legend" (yup never heard of em either) watch that she paid $1200 for but her boyfriend cheated so she would take $650 now... Also rambling how she lost the receipt so store wouldn't take it back. (funny store always keeps a copy of the receipt for warranty whenever I've bought a quality watch) Anyways I looked up the exact watch she was selling and it was basically a cheap ebay brand for $89.... Really hope no one bites on this... what a rip off

Whats with all these scam artist comming out of the woodwork, good to pass this info along

They've been out of the woodwork for a number of years. Before the net, they would just walk up to you on a down town street and would try to feed you a line of bs about why they have a watch etc for sale....

Or try to sell you a complete audio system out of the back of a truck at more than 75% off retail. Either it's stolen to begin with or you get home and open the box to find a cinder block.

Ya there's all sorts of these types of scams out there. Just a good reminder when one jumps out at you... think if my gf tried to go and buy this thing for me as a gift and got taken for $600

hey there's a prince from Nigeria e-mailing me, that will give you millions, of money the needs to be redistributed because of a will request...LOL... sometimes it makes me wonder who's actually falling for this crap... how old or how senile or how freaken' stupid do you need to be ??... if it's too good to be true it, 99.999999999999% of the time it's a damn scam or just plain ol'junk

Maybe she actually paid $1200 for the watch and the boyfriend left her because she's too stoopid to carry on a relationship with. Or figured she was too dumb to catch him cheating.

Guy tried to sell me audio equip out of a van last week at harbor freight, I just kept walking, I should have called the cops.

Got a phone call from somebody who said they were with Microsoft, my computer told them I had errors and if he was allowed access he could fix it right then. Yeah, right!

Probably had such a strong accent you could hardly understand him.

My neighbor, a very nice lady of 91 years, had the same call last week. She told the guy she couldn't understand him and hung up. About an hour later, another call comes in, this time from an english speaker. This time, she tells them that she doesn't own a computer!!!

Some people do learn and pay attention to the world around them...

Guys never try to sell me stuff out of the back of a truck in a parking lot. Of course, I drive a police car so... :)

LOL!

That would tend to keep them away....

The original post reminds me of the old stereotype of the guy in the street wearing a trench coat, walking up to you opening up one side of it saying, "Hey buddy, wanna buy a watch?" This is the "internet version" of that....

scammer: "Hi I am your microsoft windows representitive, your computer is showing that you may have problems"
me: "I have a mac"
scammer: "click"

I kinda admire this scam myself. There's a reason why the warning "caveat emptor" has been around so frigging long it's known in it's original Latin... because it's true! How many purchases made every day would never happen if consumers knew everything about the deal they were entering into?

I gotta give credit to this gal. Caveat emptor is a warning to consumers, but a fool and his money are soon parted is an opportunity for folks like her and helps bring a sense of balance to capitalism. I see this scam as a type of Darwin's Natural Selection for consumers. :)

I had some ******** scammer call a few days ago and tell me that my oldest grandson is in jail in Mexico and needs me to wire him $500 right away. My grandson is ten years old in the fourth grade. Beats the hell out of me how he got to Mexico without my daughter noticing and calling me herself. Oh well, kids these days.
It's sad that it's mostly old people who actually fall for crap like this and the myriad of other scams that are out there. When they catch these ******** they should be skinned alive.:angryfire:
