Went To My Kidney Doctor Today…… Not Good News.

It happened, I finally get to say that its finally a done deal! I got a call from my living donor transplant coordinator today saying they found me a match. She said that the planned surgery date is April 11th.

That is FANTASTIC news, so happy for you!!

I just went through all of this for a kidney myself 2 years ago. Surgery was a success and as mentioned above already now I have this pill container to carry around with me all day for the anti-rejection meds along with all of the other pills because the anti-rejection meds deplete the body of so many other things.

You went through it too huh, no kidding. How was it for you? What medications do you carry besides the anti rejection ones?

I have a whole list now. The anti-rejection meds cut down my Phosphorus, Magnesium, Vitamin D & Iron levels. So now I have to take a pill to bring each of those levels up. All of these meds throughout the day sometimes upsets my stomach so I have to take another pill for that. It's hell getting older....

Hi Everyone,

I just figured I would let you all know that tomorrow is the big day! So that said I will NOT be on here tomorrow, or unfortunately maybe even the whole weekend. I have to be at the hospital tomorrow morning for 6:30AM EST and it will be a 4 hour surgery. The doctors say that the day of the surgery (meaning tomorrow) I will be up and walking around. They also say that I will likely be in the hospital until Monday for 4 days. I will update everyone as soon as I am feeling better, which will probably be on Monday when i am hopefully home.
